The saying in sports is that you're only as good as your last game. Terrell Owens' last game was pretty darn good -- nine catches for 122 yards in the Super Bowl. But that didn't stop Philadelphia fans from booing Owens when he trotted onto the field Wednesday for the first practice of training camp. Philly fans didn't like that he threatened to hold out this summer after playing just one year of his seven-year contract. But the boos didn't last long. By the start of practice a packed grandstand was cheering Owens every time he touched the ball.
I live outside of Philly and had the radio dial on WIP on the way to work. They were broadcasting live from training camp.

When he came out for the first time, the cheers clearly drowned out the boo's. By the time he took the field to play, there were T.O. chants galore. Clearly the fans aren't holding a grudge against him.

By the way, there were 30,000 fans there for the first day of camp. Yikes!!

TO is such a freaking douchebag it's not even funny. As much as I'd like to see Roy Williams be the first player to put a helmet underneath his chin this year, I wouldn't mind it one bit if Dawkins was the first guy once the Eagles go full pads.

If it talks like a douchebag and it walks like a douchebag .... chances are ... it's probably a douchebag.

Now his on and off the field antics have cost him alot of respect, but I have a serious problem with Philly telling him he has a contract and he should honor it. What happens 2 years from now when they decide to cut him for cap reasons? Its not like he can go back to them and say he you guys can't cut me, you signed a contract with me so you should honor it. Will Philly do that? I don't think so. Pay the man his money so he shutsup and plays ball. You MIGHT actually win one instead of being hard headed. I have no doubts TO will sabotage the team some point this year. Oh hey this is a big game and you really need me. Aww man I can't play I am hurt. Remember Key left Tampa on horrible terms but he found a home quickly and has produced for us ever since. Like it or not Owens is the best, everything he talks about he does...

Every player knows the deal when they sign the paper. A gun wasn't put to his head forcing him to sign it.....not only that, his previous agent said that they will "fix it next year".....further proof that this was the plan as of last year.

TO and his agnet COULD have put terms into the contract that were favorable to him....if the rules allow a person to be cut for Salary Cap reasons, then so be it.....it's been that way since the salary cap came into being.....This is just another example of TO wanting the rules to be bent for him.....just like they were when the Eagles acquired him.

The Eagles did him a favor by taking him from the Ravens....maybe the Eagles did the Ravens a favor, huh?

Ownes does everything he talks about? We'll see....it seems he's at TC.

The guys on ESPN called them the Philadelphia Egos. Westbrook holding out too. I think the name is fitting :iggles:

Eagles | Owens Brushes off Douglas
Tue, 2 Aug 2005 20:01:10 -0700

Ashley Fox, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/29/nfl">Philadelphia Eagles WR Terrell Owens was kneeling away from the fray, quiet and alone at practice Tuesday, August 2, when DE Hugh Douglas approached him. Douglas essentially extended his hand to Owens. Owens hardly looked at Douglas as he got up and walked away, leaving the brushed-off Douglas less than happy. "I was just trying to be nice," Douglas said later, after LB Jeremiah Trotter calmed him down, told him to give Owens some time, and promised to talk to the disgruntled wide receiver. "He's in a situation where he's trying to get something done, so he's probably a little upset. In a situation like that, I think the best thing to do is give him some space and let him work it out."

The cancer is starting to spread and the Eagles chance at a superbowl is already dead.

Let him piss his team mates off! I doubt McNabb is going to throw the ball his way unless he has to. A bad season will teach TO that he needs team mates more than they need him.

Too bad he is not a QB, or there would be a lot of "look out" blocks!

Look who Harrison has throwing at him and look at who TO has/had throwing at him. Big difference.

You know I seriously thought about the TO situation and I feel for the guy. He is arguablly the best reciever in the NFL. He went out of his way to come back to play in the superbowl an ddid extreamly well. The Man is a football player hands down. Now his on and off the field antics have cost him alot of respect, but I have a serious problem with Philly telling him he has a contract and he should honor it. Let's cave and pay a guy that will otherwise sabotage the team? Yeah, that sounds like money well spent. ;)

First of all, the NFL Players Association warned TO and his agent that Philly's offer was well below market value before he signed his contract. He has no one to blame for being 'underpaid' but himself.

Second, if TO didn't meet expectations do you think he'd be willing to pay back some of his garanteed signing bonus for underperforming? I don't think so. TO's a hypocrite.

"Where's Joe [Banner]?" Douglas said to no one in particular. "I want to renegotiate for a package of Milk Duds and a box of crackers. And if I don't get it, I'm leaving camp."

Sounds like a photoshop opportunity for someone....

TO is going to start day one and will be the same calibre player he's always been. The difference will be the team around him has never been what I would call elite calibre. They are just good enough to defeat the average and bad teams. The extremely weak NFC has been their playground for a while, but it's just a matter of months before they fade entirely. They've had their shot and have blown it.

Ask yourself when was the last time Philadelphia defeated a quality playoff opponent?

Who's better than TO? Let's see...

Randy Moss
Marvin Harrison
Joe Horn
Torry Holt
Chad Johnson

There's probably more.

The Eagles know they screwed him on his contract. He produced for them pay the man what he is worth.
