Flat out disagree with you here. First I admit Dak is not a WORLD Beater QB, but he is good enough to win and has proven as much. Second every example you gave, I have seen OTHER WRs on other teams make those catches TIME and TIME again. Not every pass is going to be perfect in the NFL and as a matter of fact a lot more are going to be bad than you think. But Other team WRs catch bad throws....hell horrible throws all the time, why can't these receivers? I've seen other receivers catch balls with one hand, or with a defender draped all over them, or toe tapping on the side lines or catching balls that they have to lay out and stretch for. Is it too much to ask a Cowboy receiver to do the same???
And why can't any of these receivers get more than a step or two on their defender? Every freaking pass Dak has to throw had better be perfect, because these receivers aren't getting anywhere close to being open, let alone WIDE open. I saw Watson throw to wide open receivers all night....why can't dak get the same privilege? So NO Dak Prescott isn't going to put this team on his back and will them to a win like a Brees or Rodgers or Brady, but this team has done damn near a horrible job of giving him any skilled playmakers at the Wide out and TE positions to help him out, period!
You cannot throw high passes to small WRs and expect them to catch them on a regular basis...thinking it will happen is an exercise in futility and insanity.
You cannot continue to throw passes behind WRs and expect them to catch them on a regular basis...thinking it will happen is an exercise in futility and insanity.
You cannot continue to completely turn your back away from the offense to spin around and hope you will escape and magically make a downfield throw on a regular basis...thinking it will happen is an exercise in futility and insanity.
You cannot continue to not step up into the pocket and make a throw instead of scrambling around on a regular basis...thinking it will happen is an exercise in futility and insanity.
You cannot just decide to throw down the field once or twice a game and expect the passing game to be open on a regular basis...thinking it will happen is an exercise in futility and insanity.
You cannot expect to run as well against all teams, as you did against the lions who had one of the worst rushing defenses in the league...thinking it will happen is an exercise in futility and insanity.
Dak had one of the, if not the best, rookie seasons for a QB in NFL history. However, and this is an indisputable FACT, he has went down hill since.
I have been doing the Random stats threads every Monday for the last few seasons. In his Rookie year Dak was always in the top 3, if not number one overall, in PCt and Total QB Rating.
Last season that number went down.
This season so far he has been in the bottom half of the league.
We do not have the best WR corp in the league. We do not have a HOF TE anymore.
However I make a challenge to anyone on here to be honest with themselves.
IF we had a good QB on this team like a Rodgers or Brees...I am pretty sure we would have better passing numbers, better TD numbers, betting scoring numbers and we would have won at least one more game.
However I say to anyone willing to be HONEST with themselves...if the Saints or the Packers had Dak...would they be better off at QB? Would the WRs on those teams have even remotely as good as numbers in yards, tds and scores?
It is an opinion but I think if we were truly honest the answer would be obvious that Dak would not be the answer.
One more question.
During his rookie year this might have been a very different answer but as of right now.
How many teams does anyone believe would trade their QB for Dak straight up right now. (not teams that lost their starter and playing a backup now)...Starting QB traded straight up for Dak right now.
I think the answer would be very few if any right now.
That should tell you all you need to know about the current condition of the starting QB for the Dallas Cowboys.
