Oh God.

In a 3-4 defense, the NT is head up or shaded on the Center, which then gives the two guards plenty of ability to chip or full out double him.

Guards don't jump outside to help with a DE unless they are pulling, or doubling, and in all the time I played offensive line there was not a single time I double teamed a DE that was shaded head up or outside me with a guard, that doesn't make football sense.

Ratliff got sacks because he's relentess and a strong pass rusher.
Well then, you should go ahead and coach DL in the NFL....
Oh wait.
Wade made sure to make mismatches on the line.
It's not a knock on Ratt, but his penetration was in part due to pressure from Ware and the DEs. Ratt is a great pass rushing DT, but if you look at the games last year you can see Spears' and Canty's pressure opening up things for Ratt. It's common sense, X and O don't translate into on field situations all the time.

Your just picking fights because that's what I've been saying this whole time!!!!!!

Platoon=rotate.
My only argument was your grouping of all the DEs. Spears and Igor are underrated, that's all. Not picking fights, just not completely in agreement.
Look at my other posts, I agreed with the rotation idea the entire time...

I know what your saying, I am just telling you that normally, DEs are not involved with the interior line unless they are getting blocked out on a pull.

I know what you are saying though, I just don't think its as exagerated as you made it sound as if Ratliff got sacks just because the DEs were "eating up blockers" as you put it.

I didn't say that, I just said that one of the reasons why was the DEs getting pressure. Like I said, Ratt is a great Pass rushing DT, but too many people knock on the DEs because they don't get a ton of sacks.

And because Wade Phillips schemed to get his best passers one on one match-ups a lot of the time.

The 46 is designed to get your best rushers in single assignments.

Demarcus Ware would've never logged 20 sacks in Bill Parcells' 3-4.

It was too easy to scheme against.

Did any body inform the OP that those plays took place on pass rush drills? And only a fool would expect those guys to have any impact on our pass rush this season:rolleyes:

I read a training camp report on the zone the other day that said Spears got put on his butt by 2 different rb's. Apparently Alonzo Coleman dumped Spears on his behind in practice. Not liking the thought of that. Then again, at least Spears is getting behind the line of scrimmage if a rb had to block him 1 on 1. But to be dropped is a very scary sign.

Lawrence Taylor would beg to differ.

This is true in a traditional 3-4 defense like Parcells where they play a 2 gap however Wade's 3-4 plays a 1 gap and doesn't require you to take on extra blockers like parcells 3-4.

I must have missed the fact that Bill Parcells is still coaching.

I thought he was sitting in a front office.

Paul Pasqualoni coached under tuna in Dallas, but he isn't from his staff tree, it isn't the same 3-4 Parcells mandated here as a head coach.

LT played in the Stone age.

If you noticed, the NFL has changed just a little bit since 1986.

I guess you were perfectly happy with how our outside linebackers performed in Bill Parcells' 3-4?

It didn't bother you how easily offenses could motion to Demarcus Ware's side of the field and force him into coverage?

Have you forgotten the umpteen million threads regretting selecting Ware over Shawne Merriman during the Tuna years?

I feel sorry for anyone who can't readily admit Bill Parcells' defense was outdated.

I agree with you on the experience and technique aspect of what you are saying regarding Proctor vs Siavii. But the OP is right, when you got Cory Procter pancaking you, ever, you're not going very far in this league and it certainly is a scary situation if Ratliff went down and Siavii was our most viable contingency.

Dont judge a player on a play here and there.

Most of this board hates Jenkins too because of a couple of plays.

Pretty dumb.

I'm pretty sure that Torrin Tucker occasionally blocked Michael Strahan and Javon Kearse, defenders don't make plays EVERY play.

I've seen Ware on his butt.

in a 2 gap 3-4 you need a nose that 330-350 so thats why ratliff is great for a 1 gap but also him being such an aggressive pass rusher and undersized nose hurts in the run game because he doesnt require a dbl team so that means a guard can go straight to the 2nd level. and thats where zach absolutely killed us last year. spears or any other de had no effect as to why rat had so many sacks ratliff is just to fast for those centers but what you can say if rat is the reason bradie had 8 sacks from the mike lb because you got ware against a tackle and most smart teams are going to chip with their rb's so when bradie beats the guard theres no help

If this sky falling stuff was coming from someone who had even been at camp, watching the practices, it would be a lot more credible.

Yeah, I am worried about the Cowboys' backups at OL and NT. But then, my job isn't on the line like a lot of the coaches working there everyday.
