got this from another board.

* On consecutive plays line drills, Cory Proctor just buried Junior Saivii and Jonas Seawright. That was surprisingly impressive.

These two must be serious stiffs. Protor cant even get out his stance and doesnt belong on the roster. Read he did the same thing to Saivii yesterday. Sad state of affairs if Ratliff goes down.

I guess you expect Corey Procter to be so god awful he'll never win a match-up?

Proc's a terrible option as a starter because his inability to anchor will get exposed, but he still had good moments to go with the bad last season.

And it's not like Junior Siavii and Jonas Seawright are cagey veterans, neither has played a real football game for a very long time. Procter has a huge experience and technique edge on those guys.

Please stop being rational.

I agree with you on the experience and technique aspect of what you are saying regarding Proctor vs Siavii. But the OP is right, when you got Cory Procter pancaking you, ever, you're not going very far in this league and it certainly is a scary situation if Ratliff went down and Siavii was our most viable contingency.

My biggest concern after the O-line staying healthy is backup NT.

Hopefully one of the DE's can step up (Hatcher?) so we can rotate Spears in there occasionally.

Spears is going to be moved to NT and Hatcher will take over the other DE spot. Junior and Seawright are scrubs.

Is this set in stone or something your project to happen? Sounds good to me but I'm not so sure Hatcher is capable of being a starting 3-4 DE in this year. Can't seem to stay healthy and isn't consistent enough. Seems to have a lot of talent but I guess he just never got the quality reps to take him to the next level.

I've heard stories where Spears is getting looked at NT to help spell Rat. I think their should be a heavy rotation of Igor,,Spears,Bowen,Dixon and Hatcher throughout the whole game since none of them are truely elite. They are all on about the same level.

Did you just put Dixon and Bown in the same category as Igor and Spears?

Spears and Igor are underrated.
Spears is a great run stopper and space eater. Which is what a 3-4 DE is supposed to be. In this formation he'll never have a ton of sacks.
Same thing with Igor, plus the man is one of the strongest NFL players period.
Our backups at the moment are ok, not great.

I agree however, that we should keep a rotation going so everyone is fresh.

No, but Igor and Spears arn't so much more above Dixon and Bowen that they can't platoon out there. Ratliff is the only one that separates himself out there. Obviously Igor and Spears are better but not dramatically.

Oh your still on this board? What a shame..since you have no credibility.

I hope you realize that a big reason why Ratt got so many sacks was because Canty and Spears ate up lineman.....
It's hard to sack when your job is keeping 2 OL busy.

and you have zero football knowledge, so we make a great team.

PS add a "t" to the end of the sentence. Then go read a book about football.

Hatcher and Bowen do a good job as well. Like I said. Spears and Igor are the deserving starters but there are some guys who can do just as well. No need to pile on now.

Oh God.

In a 3-4 defense, the NT is head up or shaded on the Center, which then gives the two guards plenty of ability to chip or full out double him.

Guards don't jump outside to help with a DE unless they are pulling, or doubling, and in all the time I played offensive line there was not a single time I double teamed a DE that was shaded head up or outside me with a guard, that doesn't make football sense.

Ratliff got sacks because he's relentess and a strong pass rusher.

Well, I guess we'll find out this year.
I see Igor having a good year. Spears is in a contract year, so he'll be playing hard.
But like I said we should rotate our defensive lineman.
