Just like we were freaking out because taking a center in the first round is stupid right?

I never freaked out. Not only did we get extra picks...but we invested in the trenches.

Only people who don't understand football got upset that we took the quarterback of the offensive line. Don't lump me with you. I follow football I don't just skim through it.

I generally trust people, but I remember 90% of the board freaked out over that pick, especially after passing on Floyd.

I was upset at passing on someone who was 5th on our board.

We wouldn't draft for an hour later. Had no problem investing in the offensive line.

You'll see that i've said repeatedly....trading down is almost always the right move. We know less about projecting and drafting players than we think. It is almost always better having more picks.

We aren't freaking out about the defense because of Zeke.

We are freaking out because taking a RB at 4 is stupid. Having a stupid brain trust is reason enough to freak out.

I was encouraged by Stephen and the discipline he has injected into the organization. But nope. When Jerry acts as a tiebreaker. You have the opportunity to make ridiculous decisions like this.

If Zeke turns out to be another Smith, Sanders, Peterson etc. , he will be worth more than a 4th pick. I am not sold on him, but Inlike drafting him more than drafting a DB that has bad hands and stiff hips.

This was a good pick, but we do need to find a quality D lineman in the 2nd round or via free agency. I don't buy the argument that taking a RB at 4 is dumb. We took Tony Dorsett at 2 (via a trade up). Everyone says this is a passing league and running backs are going obsolete and blah, blah, blah. SOME teams do great by mostly passing, but not this team. This team excelled via old-fashioned ball control in 2014.

This pick by itself is not enough. We do need help on D. There are plenty of rounds left. We need to hit on many of them.

Our defense wasn't bad. Who thinks this?! Without Scandrick and horrible safeties, we did great down the stretch when they had nothing to play for. I'm excited for the new triplets. Zeke, Dez and Romo.

I agree....wasn't that bad but wore down toward end of season and that's understandable. Gonna go heavy on D the next two days and there are still some damn fine guys on the board:

Dodd and Ogbah at Dend and Robinson at Dtackle

Our defense was 17th in the league last year (16th in points, with the offense allowing quite a few of those) with 0 offense and without one of it's best players in Scandy. Yea there were no picks and no sacks... but you know how to get more picks and sacks... force teams to throw the ball more (and force them into situations where you know they have to throw the ball)... you know how you force teams to throw the ball more... SCORE POINTS. Our defense is not as bad as it's made out to be, even without 6 sack Hardy we will be fine, especially after week 5. Let's get some defense on Day 2 and we will be fine. There is nothing to freak out over.
Let's not kid ourselves. Defense is the reason this team hasn't won a championship with Romo, and our current defense is exactly what it made itself out to be -- below average.

The offense will probably be a monster, and the defense will probably struggle. Unless some magic happens on day 2, that's the bed we've made.

Corners usually take several years to develop, so I doubt Ramsey was going to come in and completely revitalize this defense. For one, we don't even know where he'd be playing. Would we move Byron Jones back to corner and Ramsey to safety? I'm sure Ramsey will be a great player, but given how our team is structured, I'm fine with the Elliott pick. It'll be interesting to see a supposed 'blue chip' talent running behind our vaunted O-line.

Percy I think at this point the personnel department has earned the benefit of the doubt, especially in the early rounds. I will say I hope we stay away from QB's from here on out. All defense all the time the rest of the way. I would love to get Spence, I am convinced he's past his problems, went on to get his degree and sent his last 20 drug tests to every team.

I just don't know if we can pull the trigger on him.

I'd have no problem trading up to get an extra second. If we were able to walk out with Ragland and Jack or Dodd, or some such combination, then that would be fantastic. Our late round picks are usually camp fodder.

We were 31st in sacks, we need a pass rusher at some point.

We better get one at 34. Spence would be my choice, I really think his mistakes are behind him and he's the best off the edge from what I can. But hopefully Dodd and/or Spence are left, and we should get one of them.

There are also some DT studs left, but we seem allergic to drafting a DT so I'm thinking one of the DEs will be the pick.

With Thorton and Crawford we have far more need at DE than DT right now. I would still prefer Jack, but I think the Cowboys are going to have 2 2nd rounders and the second one could easily go DE. Maybe not Spence or Dodd, but Bullard or the like will be there.
