STAR GAZER;2094562 said:No the officials will be simply paying more attention to the old rule of "No stiff-arms to the face".
Of course when interviewed, Barber jokingly commented "What about the throat"![]()
Gotta love The Barbarian.![]()
Great our Barberian![]()
did the league forget that these players wear helmets with facemasks on them? did the league forget this is or used to be a physical sport? if anything it's more dangerous to barber breaking his hand than a players head protected by a helmet.WoodysGirl;2095399 said:The stiff arm isn't being banned. There isn't a new rule. The hands to the face rule for offensive players is now a point of emphasis. The "punching-style" and head slaps Barber was using last year would now be called.
There's a reason why it wasn't being enforced. It was a ******** rule to begin with.skicat1898;2095921 said:Barber is being targeted because a few times this past season his "stiff arm" was actually a blow to the face which is certainly a penalty if done by any other player on the field..
A properly used stiff arm is still legal and very effective...
If Barber throws anything that looks like a punch instead of a stiff arm, to any part of the defenders body, it will likely be penalized...
NFL isn't creating any new "Cowboy" rules,, just enforcing some already on the books.
