The Demarcus Ware rule. The QB must have complete control of the ball and completed a minumum of three steps in his drop back before the defensive lineman can advance past the line of scrimmage. They did some testing of this rule last season.

The stiff arm isn't being banned. There isn't a new rule. The hands to the face rule for offensive players is now a point of emphasis. The "punching-style" and head slaps Barber was using last year would now be called.
did the league forget that these players wear helmets with facemasks on them? did the league forget this is or used to be a physical sport? if anything it's more dangerous to barber breaking his hand than a players head protected by a helmet.

All they're doing is trying limit the effectiveness of Marion Barber. He's the one who was targeted because he's really the only one who employs the technique. The rule isn't being enforced because it's dangerous, it's being enforced to limit MBIII's effectiveness and no one can convince me otherwise.

I know the Barbarian is strong but I don't think he's strong enough to punch through a facemask.

Barber is being targeted because a few times this past season his "stiff arm" was actually a blow to the face which is certainly a penalty if done by any other player on the field..

A properly used stiff arm is still legal and very effective...

If Barber throws anything that looks like a punch instead of a stiff arm, to any part of the defenders body, it will likely be penalized...

NFL isn't creating any new "Cowboy" rules,, just enforcing some already on the books.

There's a reason why it wasn't being enforced. It was a ******** rule to begin with.

What a shock. A Cowboy player ****** his opposition so let's just create rules to put a stop to that. They pretty much cut off Roy Williams gonads with that dopey horse collar rule & now they are trying to take the beast out of the barbarian with this weak garbage. Way to go league. Why not just have the players play in dresses & any touching what-so-ever is automatic 15 yard penalty.
