OMG, it seems like some people just like to argue. The point is, above average teams find ways to win more games than they lose when they have to play their backup QB. That was proven by multiple teams last year, and we've already seen the Pats win without Brady this year. For some reason, the Cowboys can't win enough games to stay relevant without Romo, which is proven by their 10-24 record without him.

I don't remember seeing a team go undefeated with a back up?

Every team can lose even with the starter in place the whole year.

The Rams have had multiple starters (high drafted as well) and they have not had winning records.
Look at the number of QBs the Browns have been through without winning seasons.
The raiders are just now starting to turn the corner after years of different QBs.

His point was hyperbole.

I disagree. We're talking about a team that can't win with a backup, not a team that 'never loses' with one.

You and I both know that even that '1' that fans want to point to wasn't any type of a quality win or any result of good quarterback play.

1-12 with a backup? Impressive. 1 in 13 isn't the odd game. It's an outlier.

A win is a win is a win...unless you want to ignore fact and then the win is not the type of a quality win...which makes no difference because at the end of the day...it was a win.

I know it is tricky...but facts be facts.

Ok. You've got me there. But I'm not ignoring the circumstances surrounding it. Why it was a fluke. And why it didn't happen before or since.

Yeah, you would be lucky to win half your games with a backup quarterback, but eight straight home losses and a 1-14 record is a bit extreme.

I mean, Campo was saddled with some abysmal quarterbacks, but he never lost eight straight home games. He never lost more than four games in row. Garrett has a seven game losing streak and a five game losing streak in just the past fifteen games.

This is territory we haven't seen since the 1988/89 seasons, and during the 1989 season the team was trying to suck.

And yet Campo is vilified while Garrett continues to be propped up.

Say what you want about poor Coach Dave, but the guy was dealt about the worst hand you can possibly get during his time as head coach. A lot more legitimate excuses could be made for him than the current guy.

Yes but in that time he won a HR derby. Helps to keep the spirits up.

Did you hear the story campo told two weeks ago about them cutting Tony banks? he had just finished telling some people how carter needed a ton of time to learn and thankfully they had banks to play and give him time. They cut banks and didn't even ask campo...They told him after!

In fairness, I made a mistake. I counted this five game losing streak across two seasons. I think Campo had an eight game losing streak across multiple seasons (not all at home, mind you).

Campo never had longer than a four game losing streak in any one season.

Call me crazy, but we might get nine wins that season with Banks. The defense was okay.

How long are people going to use this as an excuse?

Be honest...Last year when Romo went down...the majority of us knew the season was up and had little to no hope with the backups we had on the roster.

This year....I have more hope in what little I have seen in Dak than I did with all the platoon or QBs we ran through here the last few years.

Makes no difference in the end.

But at the very least they decided, in this draft, to at least draft a QB who they thought could help this team out even if it was just as a backup this year or a potential starter down the road.

Now people can complain about last year and this year all the want.

The facts don't change with those that push hyperbole and in doing so when proven wrong want to push the goal posts so far that they are no longer in the home stadium.

You can have a crappy backup QB on a crappy team and they are not going to make much of a difference. That's what we had last year.

This is not the patriots where you can plug in a QB and expect top win. People act like you can just plug any crappy old QB onto a team that already struggles to win and they should be able to win.

Funny thing is some of the same people who think that are some of the same people who never gave Romo his credit for making this team go.

Then you have some fans who are only happy when we lose. Who mysteriously are quite for a week after a win and when confronted about it say, they feel no need to comment after a win...which is an admittance to what I just said about only being happy when they lose so they can continue to whine, same type of user who would rather be right and the team lose than the team to win and them be wrong.

If you have a good starting QB that goes down...it hurts the team unless your team is so good they can over come it and that is pretty rare these days. That is why the Vikings just shipped off a first round pick and more for a crappy retread QB like Sam.

Wow! I hadn't heard that! :omg:

That truly speaks to the dysfunction going on at that point with Jerry's hands in everything. And the corresponding results speak for themselves.

My sympathy for poor Coach Dave grows.

When the chiefs were on hard knocks it showed how they operated the exact same way. Carl Peterson is maybe the worst GM ever. There was a moment in one of the episodes where All the staff was going over the qb situation and Peterson just walked in and told herman Edwards who he was going to play and Edwards was like umm yes sir ok.

I bet the chiefs, skins and cowboys were all the same.

Our next home game is the Bears, right?

Isn't Cutler undefeated in the new stadium?
