Todd Archer on Asim Richards

Thinking a player can get meaningful snaps during the year is not a ringing endorsement. It basically means he is 3rd string. Not hardly worth a mention.

Richards is one late rounder who I thought might make it. He has NFL level length and feet, and his technique isn't bad. He just lacked power coming out of college, which is the easiest OL flaw to improve with time.

I think if we have the ball on the opponents 30 and it is 4th down, we should go for it. Our kicker just can’t make those kicks. Now if we have the ball on the 40 and beyond, send him in. He is automatic, lol.

He will be much better than that. The Cowboys expectations for him are through the roof. They absolutely LOVED him and thought they stole him in the draft.
I want Richards starting at LT and Guyton at RT - either launch Steele or make him swing T.

What's wrong with Steele? And just so you know (I'm sure you do) Guyton will be the starting LOT for many years.

Would be huge to to turn Richards into a league average starter.
The impression of Richard I have stored in my brain is that he looked respectable when get got snaps.

I'm happy if he can be a solid backup that we don't have to cry about putting in a game. And he's probably already that.

5th round pick. That's a good deal for a 5th rounder.

Biadasz was a 4th rounder who worked his way into an average starter. Great deal. But so many didn't appreciate it.

Deuce was a legitimate receiver in college, with over 1,200 receiving yards in three seasons.
Deuce always looked very smooth receiving the ball in the tape I saw. Low center of gravity and quickness *should* make him a big problem to cover, if he works his route running. Should have been focusing on that last year, but I hear they started doing that this year.
The dreams of him as straight up RB just never made sense, IMO. He has motion RB/WR written all over him. He's viable as a *dual* threat.

True. Beebe's done nothing to get into the Hall of Fame yet, so he's been a disappointment.
Beebe was way overhyped on this board. So many had him penciled in as an *improvement* as a rookie over what we got from Biadasz last year.
And now that it's clear to even the hypesters that he isn't that, people are talking bust.

If you could reliably get better than average starters in the 5th round of the draft, who would be paying free agent money to veterans?

Here's hoping he can advance to a non disastrous backup this year and next. Maybe a starter in year 3.

I wouldn't count him out yet. He's making the transition to center, and it's not as easy as some want to believe it is. He's mainly having some issues with snaps from what I understand. Don't know if that is something he can get down, though, before the season starts.

Not sure about your fifth round comment, since Beebe was a third-round pick. You expect to get players who develop into starters in that round. And just based on draft position, he should be better than Biadasz (a fourth-round pick). It just might be too much to expect of him as a rookie switching positions.

My concern is more with Hoffman starting. This is a player that we were willing to put on waivers at the end of camp last year. I'll have trouble believing he's gone from that to an NFL-quality starter until he proves it.

I am intrigued by Beebe at the spot, though, because of the power he brings to the position. That power between two All-Pro guards would make us strong up the middle, but doesn't if he can't snap the ball.

Because an average starter at Center is not going to cut it if you want to challenge for a Lombardi. You need better

Lets put a midget at WR when our starting QB already overthrows guys who are 6ft 5in.
Good for practice purposes...

Some kickers practice with narrow golaposts.

Batter use a weight in their bat for practice swings.

Steele is an elite run blocker and passable pass blocker. All info from camp is that he's looking a lot better two years away from the knee injury.
