we were not conservative offensively. That is a myth.

Now defensively the last 5 weeks of 06 we became like robots. And I attribute alot of that to frustration from the coaching staff from guys on the field not doing their jobs, so they tried to make it as easy as possible for them. Losing ellis didnt help either.

If you say so.

You seem to be in a particularly argumentative mood today and I'm not interested in an argument.

Yet another ex-Cowboy assistant getting a HC position..

http://www.kansascity.com/385/story/1020143.html

Yet another missed opportunity at head coach. JJ is doing a wonderful job of botching everything, and I do mean everything these days. TO, Pacman, Shanahan, Reeves, keeping Wade, having 1 QB and 2 hack backups, Tank Johnson, Marcus Spears, Carpenter, keeping the whining Ellis, yada, yada, yada....

It's enough to make this faithful follower going back to the Cotton Bowls puke.

Rest easy fellas, no doubt JJ is busily trying to get Tank Johnson's signature on a lucrative long term contract, as well Marcus Spears. Bobby Carpenter is yet another priority signing for JJ. LOL. Pathetic.

Sounds like an indictment against the organization more than anything else.
Sounds more like an indictment of the fickleness that is fandom.

Early on, I'd have bet money on Jon Gruden getting that job.

Once Pioli got that job, the odds they got someone from the Parcells tree went through the roof. I thought they might have taken a stab at Cowher, but that was about it. Even when there were rumors of Bowles or Pasqualoni, they seemed possible.

I wouldn't want to play for him. He's a real look-at-me guy. I think at times he tries to show up his players.

But he's a martyr here because he stood up to T.O aka snitched on his players.

Then in a beautiful web of quantum entanglement, he got a rat in his wife's McDonalds salad. Isn't it ironic.... don't ya think?

Oh my goodness. No. No way.

We could have had him here as HC.

How did we let him go?

What was Jerry thinking?:bang2:

NOT! :p:

Lets call it like it is... he had Larry "Super Freak" Fitzgerald.
Watch him blow as HC of the Chiefs.

I thought he was cut during camp of 06 when hurd and austin emerged. I know copper was gone after final cut down though.

unless he got cut before camp but I dont think he did.

Either way I was just using him as an example. I simply could have replaced copper with crayton, hurd or austin.

Which is amazing considering how he "stifles" his assistants.

Another Dallas assistant that got ran out of town on a rail but now everyone wanted back.
Uh...Haley didn't get run out of town. He got a promotion to be Arizona's offensive coordinator. He wasn't going to get that job here with Sparano on the staff.

We were very conservative with Bledsoe in. But that changed with Romo. And that just makes sense based on the personnel.

As for the defense, there's no excuse whatsoever for the stupidity that was the '06 defensive coaching staff.

the thing I remember the most about Haley is when Parcells decked him on the sideline @ Seattle 2005 (reg season)

Add to it, he probably would stayed had Parcells not retired or even *****footed around with making his decision.

BTW, he was the passing game coordinator and Sparano was the running game coordinator, tho we didn't find out til way after the fact that Sparano was calling the plays.

I thought he had a 3 year deal and it was up?

I am too lazy to look it up but I thought he got a 3 year deal in 04 when he was hired here.

or was it a two year deal and then he got another one in the offseason of 06?

Not sure of the contractual details either. I've always been under the impression that asst coaches sign 2-year deals. So maybe he was in the midst of a 2-year deal when he left.

I also recall that a ton of coaches left because Parcells took a long time deciding what he was going to do and the only guy Jerry & Co. blocked was Sparano.

With all these talented staff that we had under Parcells, how come we couldn't win a playoff game?
Most people want to blame Jerry... Funny thing is, Haley isn't anywhere near as a conservative as a coach as he was when he was under Parcells... Further, Haley isn't that good IMO. He just look good, because we compare him to our offense and Jason Garrett. Haley has as talented a roster as any, with Fitzgerald and Boldin, and Hightower and James, coupled with a veteran savvy QB in Kurt Warner. The surprising thing is, Garrett can't get anything done with this offense... You don't need to be a guru to understand 3 step-drops and quick slants. Remember also, Arizona devoted itself to the running game when they went into the play-offs, when prior to this, they abandoned it and their offense was seriously suffering.
