Tom Brady is no longer playing like an elite QB

Against our defense, you don't have to be elite to win the game.
Let it sink in that Sam Darnold and Jeff Driskel lit us up. Brady is lightyears ahead of them, at least from a mental standpoint. All the Pats have to do is get Brady, Michel, and White going and they'll drive the field themselves. That's not even including Edelman.

An all time great like Brady at the latter end of his career is obviously not nearly as good as he was even 5 years ago. But he can still rise up and be great once in a while, just not as consistently. He can’t throw with the same velocity as he once had but he makes up for it in smarts.

He’s probably the smartest, savviest player on the field. I would never underestimate a champion like this.
and, as much as I hate to admit it, he has an all-time great coach

For whatever that is worth... With our luck, I'm sure he'll have a career day / season best against us... but if he plays like has been doing this year (average at best), our D should hold him in check, and let our Offense do its thing.

Prediction: Cowboys 35 Patriots 17
a no name by the name of jeff Driskill put up 27 points on this defense last week brady is showing his age I agree but the cowboys ain't winning this game this week

The defense held Wentz in check. Rodgers, only threw for 221 yds. This team has allowed lesser QB's to look great. Sunday will be a toss up. If the Patriots can get their running game going, it will not be pretty. If Dallas gets their running game going, they are a formidable opponent. Coaching, in all three phases of the game, should lead to victory.

People have been declaring Brady "no longer elite" since 2013. Then he won 3 more rings.

At some point he's going to crap out due to age, and he doesn't have the fastball he did as late as 2015, but mostly he's suffering from a revolving door of scrub tier receivers and TEs and playing with a crummy backup LT most of the year.

Tom Brady may not be playing lights out MVP level elite, but it doesn't help that his receiving weapons are still so up and down, I think Edelman is still a top possession guy
but frankly I think he would be suited as slot or No. 2 guy, they simply do not have an elite WR or elite TE, they have serviceable guys such Phillip Dorsett
but when Gronk retired, that was apparently was a blow of a loss that they haven't quite replace.

the Antonio Brown release was a real blow even before it got started, as he was going to eventually be their big play weapon and go to guy for the Pats.
they drafted a 1st round rookie WR but he's really been battling injuries , and been hurt much of this year, inexperience and underdeveloped at this time.

the Pats still have such a very well around team - and Brady is still a money- clutch QB and will make his share of big play, timely passes.

But this Cowboys team STILL has not responded to defending the RB screen pass, and that's a issue between coaches and players this year, imo.
and the Pats will definitely use those screen to eat us alive with james white, Burbank and Sony Michelle.

the Pats win as a collection of a team, it's not about the Brady-Marino- Peyton passing machine days anymore.

they are still easily the best coaching staff among the entire NFL.
they still play championship caliber defense - they take the ball away they force turnovers - (something we don't come close to doing)

in some way or another they still manage to get that key run or pass plays from their committee of WRs, RBs and TEs that keeps games
manageable and winnable. and their special teams has made plays for them that have decided outcome of games too.
when was the last time that has happened to us.
and Brady is not Phillip Rivers - old as he is, he's not noodle arm and he's not mistake prone.

the only thing that would indicate how much the Pats passing game has fallen off is that Brady could not take advantage of a porous Eagles secondary that gives
up chunk yards and plays. Plus the Eagles were able to bounce Brady around in the pocket, our pass rush is gotta come from Quinn and Bennett to get Tommy B. off
his game, imo.

helluva player who will not be taken lightly...by anyone.
but our DLine has some real opportunities to make him uncomfortable with their banged up OLine....tho Isaiah Wynn is expected back.
I still think DLaw,Quinn&Bennett can get to him....BJ,Awuzie and Lewis need to handle things on the back end.
but we can't be stupid with or about #12.....he's GREAT....and pissed.

Wynn is back but he's been out of football for over a year, so he will have some rust and conditioning issues, and add that to also having to go against
Robert Quinn at that. Besides it being the Cowboys, I tend to think Qunn has the Pats concerned.

To me, our ability to rush the passer goes thru Quinn... not Dlaw at this time. how much is it still a shoulder issue and at this point being rusty from post surgery should be out
of the door at this late in the season.
Bennett despite his age, he can still disrupt as a inside pass rusher and that's being a plus with guys like Brady.

Do you blitz Brady ... or do you stay 4 rush men ?

The cowboys defense couldn’t hold a back up QB and RB off the street in check last game. We are supposed to believe it’s a foregone conclusion they will hold Brady and Sony Michel/James White in check?

Let’s just say I’m far less confident than you.

Who said Brady & Co would be a foregone conclusion?

With the way this Defense has been playing, Tom Brady could drop 40 on us in a wheelchair. Hopefully they take a page out of the Eagles book and actually Blitz his slow behind.

Brady so far this year is completing 64% of his passes for 275 yards per game and has a 3:1 TD to INT ratio.

if that's a marked decline in efficiency, then this tells you how mind bogglingly good this guy has been over his career.

Dallas' defensive scheme is uniquely engineered to make Brady's current play style look good. The screens and dink/dunk stuff is going to be there all day unless Dallas makes some significant adjustments.

The Cowboys have let some pretty mediocre QBs have good days against them. Darnold, Rosen, Driskel to name a few.

Can’t sleep on Brady that’s for sure.
