But they can't negotiate after July 15th.

He can't negotiate a new deal. He can absolutely negotiate an agreement to return to the team in exchange for a promise not to tag him in the future.

Which they would decline.

And if that's the kind of guy he is, bye. Dallas is playing this beautifully.

And Dez is at AT&T today. He can't even not watch practice.

In that case Dez only leverage is to boycott mini camps and training camp to no avail

Dez & JJ's hug after their 15 minute conversation after practice today is enough for me to no longer worry about this situation.

The awkward position for Condon is that he represents four elite receivers all trying to get a deal right now. Dez, Julio Jones, Demariyius Thomas, and AJ Green.

It's hard to "set the receiver market" when the same agent is negotiating for all four receivers.

I didn't realize he represented all 4.
That's tough.

Exactly. Hell or high water, come July 15th, you are either signing the tag or losing money.

And he would be costing himself money in 2016 as well. Every game he misses and loses 750k in 2015 he will lower his cap number for 2016. That is how they determine his 2016 Franchise Tag.

It will either be 120% of his 2015 salary or the WR top 5 avg- or 12.8m again.

His agency does. He directly handles two of them. But it's the same pretty much.

bummer

Maybe we should hope the Top 100 list this year has D Thomas higher than Dez. haha

If someone will answer this for me, if condon is dez agent, what the heck is ROC Nation to Dez

So then what is the point of holding out if they can't talk anyway?

He might as well go out in the back yard, get $800,000 in cash, and light it on fire.

it can prevent or discourage a tag again in 2016
If he plays like normal they will just tag him again in 2016

Tom Condon and his agency CAA were partnered with RocNation while RN waited to get certified to handle NFL clients.

When Dez left Eugene Parker in Nov 2014 he wanted to go with RocNation, so he got Condon to handle the NFL contract and Kim Maile of RN to handle his other endorsements.

CAA and RN have since parted ways, but Dez stayed with Condon for this contract at least.

They handle his marketing, and are also in league with condons agency.
Before david wilson supervised dez and handled his marketing, and he had another agent.
What I read was last year dez did not like the supervisory clauses in contract about off field things, and that is why he did not sign it, it wasnt the money at that point.
Dez agent told him he should take the deal, and at that point dez decided to get rid of wilson and his agent and sign with roc and condon, and that all led to here and probably demand for more $ as well as no supervision.

And that will be about a $16 million year of football, followed by unrestricted free agency. He'd be sitting pretty.

They teach him his touchdown celebrations. Other than that, not much. He likes being connected to the hip hop world, and this does that for him.
