Tom Herman prefers U of Texas?

They very well could... Clemson is a REALLY nice job but LSU/Texas carries a little bit more prestige...

Always got the feeling the Clemson felt more like a SEC type atmosphere and school.

That's why I figured that Dabo might be more of person that LSU looks at.

They've always seemed like an SEC team, although the ACC's pretty stout this year...

He's running out of time to show it. 13-17 through 2 1/2 years would get anyone restless.

You're not wrong, but he needs to be given at least his full recruiting class. Buechele looks like the real deal, but he's still just a true freshman. The defense is getting picked apart, but they're young. Definitely get a new DC in there, but it'd be foolish to pull the plug already. It'd be two steps back.

Herman is a lock. And Herman is a better recruiter than Strong.

UT will have top 5 classes again.
and while I am a Tech fan and that kinda sucks at least it will help pull the Big 12 out of the crapper.

I'm wondering the same thing. Strong is a strong recruiter in his own right. Plus Herman's had some of his luster knocked off for me with the losses to Navy and SMU. SMU...really?

That's fine if he had great systems and was a stellar game day coach. He isn't.

Some of his best recruits are 2nd year sophomores who are majorly slumping: See 5 star Malik Jefferson.

Herman was a primary recruiter at Ohio State for a lot of 5 stars and was the primary for a Texas kid named JT Barrett.

Herman finished 36th last year at HOU. He got 3 or 4 guys Tech offered.
He'd murder it recruiting for UT to Austin.

I have to have been the biggest Strong supporter on this site but he's done, not doing anything about terrible coordinators till he was forced to, terrible in game coach, every defensive player regressing and it's his defense they're running. sucks but he just can't get it done. Again to so we are clear, Tom Herman has recruited and LANDED about 5 times as many 5 star TEXAS kids as Strong and that really tells you all you need to know about who is stronger.

Strong built Louisville up with Florida kids and he pulled some Florida kids to UT but they've largely left.

Herman will compete with TAMU in state, Strong really didn't (except Malik Jefferson who my daughters high school knocked out of the playoffs but good lord that kid was a beast).

You know who doesn't want Texas to hire Herman? OU and TAMU.
