Man, with all the talk I heard this off-season about how the loss of TO and Greg Ellis and co. was positive, there sure is alot of doubt about beating the Tampa Bay Bucs. The Bucs..............The Bucs...............

Other than the fact it is a road game, and that "on any given day" weird things can happen, I can't see a way in the world that Tampa beats us. Nothing at their QB position.

Anything worry you about tomorrow?

We should win but there are no such things as gimmes in the NFL.

They have a new OC, are playing a new defense, and have changed some important personnel (QB, OLB, CB).

Their QB is ponderous and has one of the slowest deliveries in the history of football, which is important, because Garcia's quick drops and quick deliveries were instrumental in limiting Ware's pash rush in last year's game (no disrespect to their LT Penn, but he barely had to block Ware to keep him from registering a sack).

But the wilcard is Clifton Smith. He's a very good returner, and he can really change the game if Tampa can keep it close. Hopefully Buehler can get some touchbacks. I wouldn't mind if McBriar sacrificed some distance to kick away from Smith because the Tampa offense just isn't that scary right now. I'd much rather force them to go 50+ yards for a score than to give Smith a run at it.

I still think Dallas wins by 10, but there is reason to be nervous.

Exactly. There isn't ever a gimme game.

How absurd.

Fellas, I probably could have chosen the title better, but if you will actually read what I posted I acknowledge there are some things that could mess it up, and even ended by asking what worried you about the game? I've been watching the NFL for about 40 years, I think I know by now that nothing is automatic. What I mean is that if we don't win this one, apart from injuries, we should kick ourselves.

I am taking the attitude that the team is and that it is about achieving your objectives playing hard and executing properly and more than likely the outcome is a win. That stated there are no gimmes especially for a visible team like the Cowboys who all opponents love to kick in the groin.

People continue to dog Leftwich. This is the same immobile, slow-delivery QB who got the job done against us just a few seasons ago in Jacksonville. And this is probably a better overall group offensively in TB than he had in Jax. So while we should have the advantage offensively, let's not completely dismiss Leftwich as a bum. He's a solid QB with decent talent around him, so our defense will have their hands full.

Our record in games with a starting temperature of 70 degrees plus is 16-3. Under similar conditions, TampaxBay is 11-10.

Heat = Win for Dallas

arent we lucky to have a stadium where it will be a guaranteed 70 degrees with no rain for 8 games plus?

I don't think Leftwich is a bum, but that 2006 team only had 34 sacks on the year, while this current defense amassed 59 last year. Wade's defense is much more pressure oriented, and Leftwich's style of play isn't as conducive to getting the ball out quickly.

I'd also add that the Bucs intend to "throw aggressively downfield" which is a much different style than the WCO that Gruden favored. Go back and read the play-by-play from last year's game. You'll be shocked at how often the word "short" appears in their passing plays. Only 4 of 43 attempts were down the field, and we still sacked Garcia twice.

I'm starting to worry because people think its a gimme.

:signmast:

And to what someone said, no, it doesn't matter what fans think. But I've noticed over the years that when a fanbase overwhelmingly thinks something, the team usually seems to think it -- at least a little bit -- as well.

Like Idgit said, this team was 9-7 last year and they are extremely tough at home. Who is to say how the Bucs will finish this year? Last year, teams thought Atlanta was a gimme, too.

Later in the year when some teams have proven they're in shambles, then we might have "easy" games. But not opening week.
