This game is a historical proof that Tony Romo is the greatest quarterback to ever play for this franchise. This game defines the Romo era, and it proves once again that without Romo, this team would be meaningless and a losing franchise the past 7 years. It's too much pressure for Romo, constant change of defensive coordinators, schemes, players, etc, he just has to play perfect ball in order for this team to achieve, and truth is no quarterback, no human has ever been flawless at any level.

I too will join this thread's bandwagon; Tony, I love you man, you are the greatest Cowboy I have ever seen.

Hats off to our QB. He played with a Lions heart. Despite the haters, I still got mad love for my boy. Somebody drag Kiffin to the closest Geriatric Ward. Go ahead and drag the Romo haters with him. They're getting old too.

I really do admire your faith in TR.......and no, I am not being sarcastic.

Yes sir. Going up against one of the top offenses ever in the history of the NFL? Tony Romo, " Challenge Accepted". Almost pulled it off as well!

Major props to Tony. I feel like he is the people's QB.

Wow, seriously? Then how old are you, because there have been some great ones. Not taking anything away from Romo, of course.

I won't argue with that. There is no quarterback in the league, not even Peyton Manning, who can win the game by himself. (though Manning may come closest to being able to do so). Romo is an elite quarterback surrounded by ineptitude, and that's all there is to it. The guy is playing his heart out and I'm not convinced that a remotely better option exists. He's doing the most anyone possibly could, and with very little.

To put it another way:

Our running game or defense isn't going to make any opposing coaches or coordinators break a sweat, but you can bet that when it comes time for opposing teams to scheme against the quarterback, Romo keeps 'em up late.

Been watching Cowboys actively since the mid 1990's.

Emmitt, Larry Allen and Witten come close. Dez is in the rearview mirror, and there is a special place for T.O. because he was a dominating offensive powerhouse. But Romo tops them all. Today's game was his signature performance, a game for the ages, 50 years from breaking the all-time's NFL passing record, 5 TD's, 506 yards, and 48 points with 100% of the points coming from the offense, not from the defense, nor the special teams. Romo is special, and this season CAN be saved and could be special.

Because even though we lost, and despite how horrific the final result was, I feel optimistic about this season. We are lucky to have a horrible division, and we only need to win 6-8 (in reality a 9-7 season takes it home) more games to win the NFC East, and if we can somehow improve the defense in the next 11 weeks, perhaps there could be a playoff run in Romo. But make no mistake, and this is an important note. It is a team game and Romo needs help from the Defense, A LOT of help.

Emmit is the G.O.A.T. in Dallas as far as I am concerned but, Tony has certainly earned my vote in the top.

Woah, get off his sack. He's been good. But the metric used for "greatness" is Super Bowls.

I respect your opinion and of course there is no right or wrong answer, but I would have to put Michael Irvin and Emmitt as my top two. TR would not make my top 10, although a case can be made in support of your claim, statistically. Again, JMO. :)

In Golf you can use championships as a barometer. For tennis players you could say the same thing, heck even in basketball where a player's greatness could further influence the greatness and success of team singlehandedly.

However in sports such as football, and even soccer, you can't. Great players have tried and failed to win championships, and for that I say Romo is a fantastic player, I don't care much about Super Bowls, and it would be stupid to judge a player because of a Super Bowl alone.

Don't get me wrong though, I'd love a Super Bowl for Romo more than anything in the whole wide world, but it's not the barometer I will use to measure and appreciate his greatness.

Not in my opinion. Certainly Super Bowl wins make the case an easier argument but, it isn't the measure for great players. A lot of amazing players never get the shot. All for the same reason. Anyone who says Marino and Moon were not "great" QB's should have their pants around their ankles and beaten.
