Not gonna matter if we don;t fix the o-line and play calling.

I'm not saying we haven;t tried to address it. Certainly firing KM was a big move. Staying healthy and deep will be critical.

But....After the last few years I will have to see it first.

“That was one that you do get excited about when you see that story,” Prescott said on Sportsradio 96.7 FM, via the Dallas Morning News. “Understanding going into it knowing who he was, knowing his dad, thinking how cool that would be if you could make that happen. I did pay attention enough that he was there in the [sixth] round or something, was like how is he still there? Seeing that, seeing that reaction, just knowing how great of a guy Chris, who is the father, is. I’m excited about Deuce being in there. I think he’s going to be a very talented player who can help us immediately.”

I do not doubt their skill. I worry about them being utilized correctly or Deuce being given a fair shot to split carries considering he's a rookie. This organization has a certain thing with vets and sometimes it takes them forever to begin maximizing our rookie's skillset.

Last season Pollard and Elliot combined for 424 carries. Pollard had 193 carries and Zeke had 231 carries.

If we assume that Pollard's load is bumped up to 250 carries then that means Vaughn, the other half of the "duo", gets 174 carries or an average of 10 carries a game. Remember that McCarthy plans to run more so the total carries will probably be even higher.

Does that sound realistic? Only two rookie RB's drafted in the 6th or 7th round in the past 20 years has had this many carries, Mike Anderson and Alfred Morris. They were both much larger than Vaughn.

In order for Vaughn to be part of a successful running game there must be a 3rd option with as many carries or more than him. This other RB must have specific attributes that are different from the others. The only viable candidate at this point is Hunter Luepke, a rookie free agent. This doesn't make the scenario any more realistic.

Before we even begin to talk about an effective pair or trio of RB's, we need to see strong performances in the upcoming preseason games by anyone not named Pollard. Otherwise, the Cowboys running game will be tenuous during the entire 2023 season. This will have a detrimental effect on the passing game.

Whats he supposed to say? lol

"Kid is to small to play with the big boys. No way I want him pass blocking for me. He'll get me killed."
Seeing Deuce Vaughn right away start working out (weights, sprints, etc) with Micah Parsons this offseason is very encouraging, especially when one sees Deuce able to keep up with Micah. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Deuce is able to be somewhat serviceable in pocket pass protection if asked to. Look at his thighs and arms. He's built like a tank for his size. Thick leg muscles with plenty of strength, plus a stout muscular frame. One can see Deuce has built his body up in the weight room very well. Mighty Mouse is in the house!

He will get destroyed pass blocking. People on here are concerned with Pollard pass blocking and hes 6'0 215.

Overshown couldn't tackle the Deuce on runs, nor stick with him in pass coverage.

Make of that what you wish.

Vaughn averaged 12 yards a touch vs. Texans.
I'm actually concerned about Overshown now. Deuce in my opinion is basically a poor man's Sproles. And Sproles was a nice back but nothing to get overly excited about. Vaughn is a nice story and I'm pulling for the kid but people need to temper the expectations.
