Tony Pollard is a WR

Yes. We all want him in the field more. Coming out of college they acted like he played a lot of snaps at WR, and that’s how he’d be used as well. And now we need him now to step in.

Pollard should be a pass catching back, not WR .. he should be a Aaron Jones (GB) ..or Austin Ekeler (LAC) by now, but here ...

And he's not a " precise" route runner as this post is trying to upsell him to be .
Because of Kellen Moore, he is actually an under developed pass catcher out of the backfield.

So very under-utilized, under-developed here in Dallas. :(

Sooooo, when Zeke gets hurt you are forced to move Pollard back to RB then what? No issue with him taking some snaps but you just can't move him to WR, unless the plan was to only have Washington take 5-10 snaps a game

If I were the Cowboys I would give Shampklin a look at WR before I gave Pollard a look there for any period of time. I'm not going to say that the Cowboys won't line Pollard up at WR for a series or a drive or maybe even a couple drives.

IMO, if you were looking for a RB on the current roster who can play WR, it could be Shampklin. But I don't think the Cowboys like him much, since he can return punts and kicks and the Cowboys already signed Turpin.

Also, for his size, Shampklin can block, and play ST.

He should take on Washington snaps to fill the gap.
Precise route running with quickness & speed to win most matchups.

Just so sadly pathetic how much we have underutilized this kid. And THIS year would be another perfect opportunity to get him more involved in the passing game and we all know its never going to happen.

That is EXACTLY who he is. An Aaron Jones/Ekeler type. Both guys have had 20 TD's in a season.

And I'm a Chippendales dancer....Let Pollard be an RB with versatility. Making him a full time receiver accomplishes nothing but exposes him. Giving him a few snaps a game in the slot and a few more targets out of the backfield in addition to 10ish carries a game lets him thrive.

What the Cowboys need to focus on is getting Pollard in the backfield more, reducing the wear and tear on Zeke, and please give up on this idea that Lamb is effective from the RB spot.

RB like Pollard are guys you try to get them lined up against linebackers in routes. Hopefully slow linebackers. He will not have much luck running routes against NFL cornerbacks.
Bingo. Right now teams aren't putting an extra DB in the game because of Pollard. You line him up in the backfield and motion him out you can get matchups to take advantage of. You play your hand and line him up at WR too many times and teams will be putting the extra DB in the game and he becomes very ineffective.

Soooo ... this thread's title is "Tony Pollard is a WR".

A video is included which shows him mostly running out of the backfield and taking swing passes, breaking them for long gains.
And this is evidence to support the claim that "Tony Pollard is a WR"?

The bulk of this video was him lining up in the backfield. Of the maybe 4 times it showed him lining up wide he took the ball on a reverse on 2 of them rather than running a route.

I don't say this to suggest he can't have an effect lining up as a WR, but this video was presumably provided as evidence of it, and it really isn't.

I would expect the Cowboys to use Pollard much like he was used in the video - as a versatile RB who occasionally lines up wide.
