Romo also seems to admit that, indeed, he had grown too satisfied with his accomplishments in the NFL, and he wasn't pushing for more.

"Either you are trying to get better or you are content as a player," Romo said. "I am not content. I don't think this team is. We are striving to be a team that we hope can make everybody excited or have an exciting time watching us play this season."

Oh... my.... God!

Romo admitted no such thing! He simply said if you aren't getting better, you are getting worse. Something that dozens of athletes have said... and none of them were admitting that they had grown satisfied and weren't trying to improve.

This is indeed the biggest of all reaches in journalism history.

I never really hated Florio until now. He is pure crap.

Turd.

I can selectively edit, too. How about Romo's admission that he wasn't getting the job done? Note that the source for that was the AP, not Mike Florio.

Romo admits he needed to change

And it's obvious that he hasn't been a good leader; if he were, the Cowboys wouldn't have needed to cut receiver Terrell Owens in order to give Romo a chance to blossom.

That's awful funny Florio - considering there hasn't been a team yet that didn't cut Terrell Owens for the same reason.

Romo also seems to admit that, indeed, he had grown too satisfied with his accomplishments in the NFL, and he wasn't pushing for more.

"Either you are trying to get better or you are content as a player," Romo said. "I am not content.
Romo says: I am not content.

Florio hears: I am not content, but I used to be.

Unreal.

What really annoys me about this is the reality that the "casual fan" gets his opinion from the media, and this is exactly the kind of crap the media will dredge up in order to slam a player they choose to slam. ESPN is no better, and they're the "worldwide leader in sports".

Romo's a hard-working, humble guy who badly wants to be a great QB and win Super Bowls.

But unless you're a Cowboys fan who has followed him VERY closely (CowboysZone closely), then the Romo YOU know is lazy, big-headed, and cares more about partying with celebs than he does about football.

Thanks to clowns like Mike Florio.

Total and complete mischaracterization by Florio. The entire and complete quote and context was Romo talking about not going for the big play all the time and to work your way down the field taking what the defense gives you, as was demonstrated by our ball control in the first half of the second preseason game.

He (Romo) was basically saying he's finally learned the wisdom in taking what's given and not always trying to go for the spectacular or make something happen when it's not there. The entire statement by Romo when originally given had absolutely nothing to do with his leadership capabilities.

Of course, after the debacle put out by Florio concerning RW's "broken" collarbone, complete with his quasi-retraction on wait for the MRI to be sure it's not broken (more complete idiocy), I was fully enlightened as to the type of hack he is and this garbage is more evidence of it.

You guys mean to tell me that we haven't won a post season game since beating Minnesota in 1996?

That means we haven't won in... lets see, (1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008) TWELVE YEARS!

I couldn't have said it better.

There are those who protect the media here and I am not so sure if they understand how much of an impact an unqualified sports opinion from a journalist that has mutated the story away from the facts affects the average sports fan.

Perception is reality in our world and unfortunately this kind of written garbage gets accepted as fact solely on the merit that it was published.

Romo recognizes he wasn't getting the job done. I'm glad he said it, because if anyone on this forum said it, he'd be blasted as a hopeless pessimist . . .

Actually, we were called "haters" when some had the audacity to suggest that Romo needed to do some growing up and some thinking about what it meant to be the QB of the Dallas Cowboys and the responsibility that comes with the job.

I'm liking what I'm hearing coming out of his mouth here.

I knew you could do it Tony!

Tony has always been a hard worker looking to improve, still wearing the old cap backwards only difference I see is taking a more serious tone with the media.
