Romo was great in the clutch. He doesn't need an elite running game either to be clutch. He also doesn't need training wheels. Romo was allowed to have th entire playbook because of his greatness. He also did something consistently that DAk and Brees struggles with. He won on the road.
As great as Romo could be in the clutch he could be just that bad in games that mattered . The WIN OR GO HOME KIND that leave you 8-8 in the NFL purgatory of no post season and poor drafting position .
You are 100% right he did not need or want a running game . Tony didn't want to run the ball himself even if there was a boat load of open space in front of him nor waste plays letting anyone else do it . Tony loved to pass and he was damn good at it most of the time .
Sure he was allowed to use the entire playbook but only cared to use the passing part and opted out of the run to the point teams baited him to do it . Ray Lewis had a field day with him and so did many other defenses pulling men to the box so he would kill the run then knowing he NEVER snapped the ball before the clock was on one second and backing out for the pass.
Tony was a great passer one of the best in NFL history that's what he wanted to be and that's what he achieved . Dak is a great FOOTBALL PLAYER and a WINNER that's what his record is reflecting so far .
