Tony Romo and his pre-snap cadence...

Does anybody think that Tony Romo needs to work on his pre-snap cadence a little bit? I was wondering that and trying to think about his past games and how well that was utilized... ... I can't ever remember any announcer (especially Troy!!) ;) , during a game saying that Romo is keeping the defense on its heels by changing his cadence periodically...

I'm sure that has to give the running game a bit of an edge due to what it does to the mindset of the opposing DL. But by that, Romo and the OL have to be on the same page consistently. Does anyone think that could be a problem with our OL? Think positive now...:)

Just curious.

Worrying about Gurode's snaps flying over your head would mess up anybody's cadence.

Romo needs to get away from letting the clock run down before snapping the ball. The defense can time the snap alot easier when you let it run down to 0 on every play.

Very good question. In addition to his cadence that never seems to change have you noticed that he always gets the ball with one second left on the clock, every single time. He also spends a lot of time imitating Peyton Manning and pointing all over the place as if it means anything to anyone. Bottom line it always looks like he is out of control at the line instead of steady and in control.

I hate that. I was about to post the same thing. The defense knows exactly when we'll snap every single time.

This definitely would have to be from under center though... That connection (no pun intended):p: would definitely help even the desire to resurrect a respectable YPC in a new found running game. Fingers crossed.:)

The reason for the clock almost running out, this past season, was because he was directing his WRs where they needed to be since one of them came to the team late and the other didn't bother to fully learn the playbook.

This was addressed many times on the various Cowboys talk shows, and Brad Sham actually went into a rant one time, thinking his mike was off, while on commercial break.

Hopefully this year it will be different, and the WRs will know the playbook.

Good point Pokes... Payton dictates the game through his offense and has control of the clock and the plays... Romo is still not up to that level IMO.

How bad Romo wants that kind of control is another question he will have to answer in his career. He wont ever be very good at it if he lets the play clock constantly dictate the offensive tempo.

That is one reason I believe that false starts happen so easily with Dallas. The OL and Romo are not quite in tune because Romo is thinking so hard of doing one thing to make some progress down the field and the individuals on the OL might not realize what Tony Romo is overthinking instead of concentrating on providing some pre-cadence snap relief for the OL first.

Be in tune with your pre-snap cadence AND the OL first , then make a play...

I can't stand that either.

The other is that stupid "KILL KILL KILL" we hear from Romo. Every time I hear that I cringe becaue that usually means a handoff to Barber for no gain.

yup, he allows the defense to get a jump by not mixing up the clock/count.

deplorable and something coaches should have fixed by game 3.

I'm going to have to remember to listen for that next season... I would presume that is an audible out of a passing situation... was that from under center big dog cowboy?

Yes. It started with Bledslow and Romo has continued that horrible tradition. I blame BP.

I know of a certain red headed OC that could help in changing that tradition.

I noticed quite a few times it seemed that it took too long to get the played called and they had too hurry to the line with 5 or 6 secs left on the clock

Is this Tonys fault or is it the Ginger geniuses fault? I noticed at times Romo got the play in, and then it seemed like he actually had to explain to the rest of the retards what to do and where to line up.

You act as if he does this all the time. I guess it's the centers fault he can't figure out what play to run after seeing the defense move around constantly pre-snap. Wake up.

Who was the "mental health" person that threw the ball right to the steeler, gift-wrapped the game for them last season?

32 centers in this league. Gurode is in the minority that keeps his QB on his toes, every single shotgun snap. Perhaps he needs to wake up.
