Tony Romo, do you remember?

I was at his first start game against the Panthers in Carolina. He was amazing that day and he earned my confidence that he was the QB of the franchise.

Hmmmm...

Let's see...

Umm, in no particular order

After Aikman

Quincy, Leaf, Wright, Stoerner, Hutchinson, Henson, Banks,Justin, I am sure there are others I have forgotten, and for good reason.

And then ,Romo.

Romo, he isn't my favorite or my worst hated Cowboy, but, I am glad he is here for now.

I still have the hate for the ego man Jones who made us Cowboys fan sift through all that crap before someone with atleast some talent came in and got the Cowboy atleast winning some games again.

In hindsight, Romo wasn't all that impressive in 2006. He beat a bunch of bad teams, then fell flat on his face against the real contenders. He even lost to the freakin' Lions...at home.

Oh, and don't try to disprove my argument by bringing up the Colts game. Romo was just a good bus driver that day. Nothing more.

Go find me another QB who started off as hot as he did his first year (half year) as a starter.

Roger Staubach.

Although, you and I should both really should not be feeding the troll.

He was so close to being cut, thank you Sean Payton.

Saints offered us a 2nd for him after 06 but even Jerry isn't that stupid.

He has covered up a lot of this teams warts for years, to put it simply - if he doesn't win the game for us, no one else will. Outside of a couple games where Murray went off, this guy has always played with a consistently below average OL and defense and willed Dallas to almost all of their wins.

All he needs is some help, his stats aren't out of this world for no reason, and that's with longer fields and less turnovers forced by his defense than 'elite' guys like Manning and Big Ben.

The QB that does more with less help than any QB in the entire NFL, Tony Romo.

Give him a running game, defense, consistent coaching/play-calling, game management, better ST and he'll bring us #6 - but he can't do it all alone, every year especially with routinely broken bones from piss poor pass protection.

It's all relative in evaluating athletes, remember that.

romo lost to the lions on NYD in 2006 because the defense gave up 36 points to the detriot lions and jon kitna looked like joe montana when it was said and done.

did i mention roy williams looking like jerry rice too? the defense was pathetic that entire december in 2006. zimmer got canned right when the season ended.

Off the top of my head...Roger Staubach, Tom Brady, Kurt Warner, and Aaron Rodgers.

Two for four...

Come on, you can do better than that.

Me too. That was a great game. Were you there at the end when all the Panther fans left and we were chanting "Romo! Romo!" ?

I was so mad when Bledsoe threw that Pick Six against Philly. :laugh2: Yes seeing Romo was like a breath of fresh air

For 6 games Romo was very impressive going 5-1 including 4 wins in a row. He was so impressive it earned him a Pro Bowl birth having only started 10 games that season. The Cowboys were going virtually nowhere under Bledsoe in 06 and Romo ignited the team into a playoff team. You claim he beat a bunch of bad teams and that he was just a bus driver vs the 9-0 Colts but Romo completed 19 of 23 passes against Indy and had 2 huge 3rd down completions in the 4th quarter to Anthony Fasano and Terry Glenn that sealed the win keeping Peyton Manning off the field.

Romo had taken only 2 or 3 career snaps before becoming the starter that season. Granted his game started coming apart later that year but he exceeded everyones expectations with his play. No one expected him to have the production he did or make the Pro Bowl and lead the team to the playoffs.

Pretty damn good list. Not many QB's can start off hot like these guys, and Romo is one of them.

hmmm...that looks like 1 HOF, 1 surefire first ballot HOF, 1 eventual HOF, and 1 who will be HOF if he continues on his current trajectory...your right, any JAG QB could have started off the way Romo did.

I was sold after watching the Carolina game on TV, but I was there when he started against the Giants in New Jersey. When he hit Witten down-field to set up the game-winning FG, I knew he was something special.

I stick by him through the ups and downs. Anyone who cheers his great plays, needs to shut up when he makes bad ones because they all come from the same mindset - he thinks he can make any play and every throw and more times than not, he does.

That's my quarterback! *TO voice*

I thought Rodgers had a pretty slow start in his first year, probably mainly because his O-Line but I thought he struggled at first, I could be wrong.

As for Romo, I was never into football until I decided to start watching at the end of the 06 season and then became hooked so Romo is the only QB I've ever watched in Dallas (I'm 20 now). I never understood all the criticism the guy got because he played very well but had a tendency to make mistakes on the big stages but the stats speak for themselves.

T.O was epic and he was indeed prolific with Romo, it was awesome and it seems like the number of deep passes has decreased a lot since he was here, not sure if it's true or not but it seems like it to me, except Austin's break out season.
