I think Tony has two good years left. I think he could play five if he was kept healthy but realistically, I think we have two years to win a championship. After that, we are feeding off of our young.

Teams will feed off of our young lol

2 to 3 years, but as been said, this next draft they better draft a QB in round one or two. Use him as back up, and get him prepared. Even if he sits for 3 years, he will be prepared behind on of the best to tutor him. Watch and learn.

I'm a huge Romo fan but dude needs to get in better shape. I'm sure his competitive mind thinks he has 4 more years and his athleticism/skills may allow it....but he needs to work on his strength and fitness.

But, that's sounding more and more like a pipedream.

Packers got lucky, it's not everyday a franchise caliber QB that is projected to be a top 5 pick falls to 24. Actually Jerry himself wanted to do something similar last season with Manziel but it seems like it is a good thing he didn't.

Certainly, Rodgers falling to 24 was pure luck.

However, it wasn't like the Packers were all set. They went 10-6 in 2004 and still drafted Rodgers anyway. After that they 4-12 in 2005, fired Mike Sherman and then went 8-8 in 2006 with Mike McCarthey. Then they went 13-3 in 2007. All with Brett Favre with Rodgers sitting on the bench. And the rookie cap hits in the first round were far greater than they are today.

So, IMO, if they would have gotten Rodgers at #10 in the draft, I think they would have still had the same records and still transition seamlessly into Rodgers. And I think being able to sit Rodgers down for a few years greatly helped him become the QB he is today. He fell in the draft because of all things...scouts questioned his arm strength (Cal threw a lot of WR screens). And he was terrible in his first 2 seasons playing preseason ball to the point where Packers fans thought he was a bust.

This drives at a bigger point for me...I want my franchise QB to sit out his rookie year rather than start right away. Certainly, you can get that QB that plays right away and develops into a star. But, I've never thought to myself 'y'know this guy could have been a great QB if he started his rookie year instead of sitting out.' But, I've certainly questioned QB busts that started right away.

Jerry and Co. should realize this and see that you can draft a QB in the first round, have them sit down and still get more years out of Romo and still field a good, Super Bowl contending team while Romo is the QB. Then transition seamlessly to the next QB and maybe win a Super Bowl with that next QB instead of having to rebuild everything.

Hmm. Well if our offense line keeps getting better ( which it will) I'd go on a limb and say 5 years.. Funny thing is, he's gotten better over the last few years. His game is still progressing.

It's a shame it has taken this long for Romo to get the positive attention he's been getting these last two seasons. Before we all know it, he'll be retired and we'll be all thinking why we didn't enjoy his play more over the years.

Same thing happened to me with Troy. Don't care about the water until the well's dry.

One of the reasons Rodgers fell is he was the latest of long line QBs developed in college by Ted Tedford -- including a number of 1st round pick QBs who were either busts or highly dissapointing. That list included:
  • Trent Dilfer
  • Akili Smith
  • David Carr
  • Joe Harrington
  • Kyle Boller
All of those guys looked great in college under Tedford. That stink spooked NFL clubs.

I have no idea, but I know there were a lot of self-proclaimed back experts on here who claimed that he would crumple in to a heap and never get up again after his first sack last year. I always keep my eye on Drew Brees as the canary in the coal mine, as I believe he is one year older than Tony and shares some similarities. Once he starts to stink, then I'll worry.

Two years max. Just too many injuries over the years and he probably won't make it a full 16 games out of those two seasons. I always love sitting a young QB for a few years...I'm interested to see how Osweiler continues to do for Denver.

With Romo at age 35 and turning 36 before next season, how many more seasons is realistic for him to play? He theoretically has the Oline in place now and for several years to protect him. His skill and level of play still look to be sharp.

Brady is 38 and looks as good as ever. Everyone knows him saying he's got 10 more years that he doesn't believe it either.

Payton at 39, it looks like he's possibly turned a corner.

It's safe to say they've all taken beatings throughout their careers so what's realistic......3, 4 or 5 years?

Next year is it.
Sorry, Jerra, I saw it coming and you half not (obvously)

2-3 years, as long as his back stays injury free.

Rather start grooming someone this offseason, so if he declines/injured for the 2017 season, we have someone with at least 1 full year of practice under their belt.

Back injuries can be really problematic

2 years most likely
3 if he does not have any more injuries which is unlikely given his recent history

Two more after this year is about as good as you would hope for with his injury history.

I think 3 or 4 depending on if he is severely injured in the future!

Tony has matured in terms of his understanding and play, it will only be his body that betrays him going forward.
