Extreme;2450658 said:Kinda. What I'm saying is he is still very young, but being good and young can go either way. Here's a quick list off the top of my head of QBs that started great, but went down the crapper as their careers went on.....
Drew Bledsoe
Marc Bulger
Jeff George
Boomer Esiason
Daunte Culpepper
Brian Griese
Tim Couch
Chad Pennington
Mark Brunell
Byron Leftwich
Phillip Rivers
Ty Detmer
Count again, or look up their stats and see for yourself. Brunell, Bledsoe, Bulger, Esiason and Culpepper were all very similar, if not slightly better statistically at this point in their career.theogt;2450760 said:How many of those guys started out their first 3 seasons with stats like Tony? I count only one.
That is meaningless to mention for a 3 year starter. WOW, HE'S GOT THE HIGHEST 3 YEAR RATING EVER!!!!! OMG!!!!!! So, if he fell apart and had a terrible year next year, hypothetically, would he never have a chance at this title again? You can't say someone is the best ever after 3 years, it's absurd. If a QB threw 1 pass in his career, and it was a 99 yarder, you could say he had the highest completion percentage and YPA in NFL history, but like bragging the way you are, it means nothing. Let him get some time under his belt and see how he does.theogt;2450760 said:I disagree 100%. What makes him great is his risk taking. He makes plays that most other QBs don't because he takes risks. The difference is that he's good enough to make all those risk worthwhile because they payoff much more than not, which is why he has the highest career passer rating of any QB in the history of the NFL.
He had over 14,500 yards and over 75 TDs his first 4 years. Oh yeah, he was terribletheogt;2450760 said:No, Bledsoe was pretty terrible early on his career.
First, learn to use OUR instead of ARE before you try to make me look stupidtheebs;2450747 said:cross your fingers extreme. Just keep hoping.
I can tell you his career wont turn down. he has the smarts and the talent and he is surrounded by young talent on offense. he is going to play with barber, felix jones, jason witten, martellus bennet, miles austin and roy williams for at least the next 4 years.
When he has consistency around him like that he should only get better.
comparing him to detmer, couch, griese, jeff george etc...is foolish.
and your comment on learning to throw it away and take a sack is hillarious, that alone proves you have no idea what your talking about.
My suggestion for you is to go learn the rules of the game, since you clearly displayed 3 weeks ago that you know not the rules of the game. then come back and tell us how are qb is a flash in the pan.
No, they weren't.Extreme;2450980 said:Count again, or look up their stats and see for yourself. Brunell, Bledsoe, Bulger, Esiason and Culpepper were all very similar, if not slightly better statistically at this point in their career.
Yet, only one other person has put together a 3 year start like this. That is meaningless to mention for a 3 year starter. WOW, HE'S GOT THE HIGHEST 3 YEAR RATING EVER!!!!! OMG!!!!!! He also had more INTs than TDs in 2 of those first 4 years, which makes his QB rating atrocious. He had over 14,500 yards and over 75 TDs his first 4 years. Oh yeah, he was terrible

He actually had 73 INTs in his first 4 seasons.zeroburrito;2451461 said:did you forget to count the ints? he had 60. that is horrible. 78 td's to 60 ints? hes an equalizer. he also had very low ypa. tons of passes that didn't go very far.

Secondly, look at the talent Romo has around him. You can't say he won't slack off or slow down. He can't be surrounded by that much talent forever, and we've never seen how he is without the games top receivers.
You can't judge greatness when they are surrounded by greatness. Look what Marino did, and had almost nothing to work with his entire career. He was great. So far, Romo is very good, not great.
Unless you are a psychic, you do not know for certain how his career will play out. Brady is very good, but he's hurt. He might never be the same. Same could happen to Romo.
As for not knowing the rules of football, what the hell are you talking about?
Hot_Toddy;2448853 said:We all know how awesome Romo is - But did we realize just how awesome (from a stats perspective that is).
I found and put together the stats from www.pro-football-reference.com
Note that Romo is also the leader amongst Career QBs (not just active QBs in many of these categories).
I'll just wait until Romo has the 1,500 attempts to add those in as well. But for now.....
