I dont like him one bit. He's having way too much fun and smiling too much for a qb in this league. You ever see manning or brady smile?

I don't hate Tony Romo. I just dont sniff his jock like most of this board does. He's a Cowboy, so I want him to do well. However, he's yet to prove he's Football Jesus most of you think he is, and I think the numbers bear that out.

You have already been exposed son ..... just give it up and keep hoping Tony fails.

It's awesome that I'm being accused of trolling, yet 90% of the responses are far more troll-ish than anything i've actually said.

What he said.

Excellent post.

Now, is the all-time active leading passer still 5th in fan balloting for the Pro Bowl this year?

He is certainly a great player. Once he wins a ring he'll get more of the respect he deserves.

The funny thing is...

EVery team thinks that their 3rd string QB, who doesn't play for 3+ years, is the 'next Romo'... Think Aaaron Rodgers who sat 3 years behind Favre...

Romo is a one-in-a-million player...

We pretty much got flat-out lucky.... While people saw his talent, I don't think anybody expected that he would be anywhere near this good...

A smile on his face; a song in his heart; and a tart in his bed.

I'll admit, for a while I was quietly waiting for the other foot to drop. I had that inner fear that he was a flash in the pan because I just couldn't believe he'd sustain that level of play for as long as he has. That isn't going to happen though.

Not to crap on your parade - I give Romo props, dude is sick - but he has played nowhere near long enough for his career comparison to any of those players to matter yet.

So what you're saying is, he's still young and will get better?

I like it.

I can't get too down on DIAF. While I don't necessarily lay the blame for recent December swoons at the feet of Tony, he is the leader of our offense and December success or failure will hinge greatly on his play. It comes with the QB territory - and I'm sure Tony is among the first to get that.

In the past, Tony's INT-to-TD ratio has tended to nosedive in December. Plenty of other factors have attributed to Dallas fades, but I'd really like to see Tony's penchant for late-season TOs cease to be one of them.

Kinda. What I'm saying is he is still very young, but being good and young can go either way. Here's a quick list off the top of my head of QBs that started great, but went down the crapper as their careers went on.....

Drew Bledsoe
Marc Bulger
Jeff George
Boomer Esiason
Daunte Culpepper
Brian Griese
Tim Couch
Chad Pennington
Mark Brunell
Byron Leftwich
Phillip Rivers
Ty Detmer

Then you have guys that start of like crap or as backups, then go on to have some great years.....

Vinny Testaverde
Rich Gannon
Trent Green
Kurt Warner
Steve Young
Tom Brady

And some stay pretty consistent like Elway, Marino, Favre, Cunningham, Moon, Jurgensen and Staubach.

Basically, I agree that at this moment he is bordering on being a great QB. He would be even better if he'd learn to throw it away or take a sack instead of throwing an INT or grounding it.

Right now, he's still too young to tell. Remember, at one point Drew Bledsoe was the next Dan Marino, and a sure pick to break all his records. We all see where that went :)

Unless something drastic changes though, I don't expect Romo to fall apart any time in the near future, but time will tell.

cross your fingers extreme. Just keep hoping.

I can tell you his career wont turn down. he has the smarts and the talent and he is surrounded by young talent on offense. he is going to play with barber, felix jones, jason witten, martellus bennet, miles austin and roy williams for at least the next 4 years.

When he has consistency around him like that he should only get better.

comparing him to detmer, couch, griese, jeff george etc...is foolish.

and your comment on learning to throw it away and take a sack is hillarious, that alone proves you have no idea what your talking about.

My suggestion for you is to go learn the rules of the game, since you clearly displayed 3 weeks ago that you know not the rules of the game. then come back and tell us how are qb is a flash in the pan.

How many of those guys started out their first 3 seasons with stats like Tony? I count only one.

Basically, I agree that at this moment he is bordering on being a great QB. He would be even better if he'd learn to throw it away or take a sack instead of throwing an INT or grounding it.
I disagree 100%. What makes him great is his risk taking. He makes plays that most other QBs don't because he takes risks. The difference is that he's good enough to make all those risk worthwhile because they payoff much more than not, which is why he has the highest career passer rating of any QB in the history of the NFL.

Right now, he's still too young to tell. Remember, at one point Drew Bledsoe was the next Dan Marino, and a sure pick to break all his records. We all see where that went :)
No, Bledsoe was pretty terrible early on his career.

Tony Romo is one of the best QB's in the NFL and it's a shame some fans didn't realize how important he was to the team until he got hurt.
