Just to get the blood boiling of the people that hate everything Tony Romo...:laugh2:

Over Easter weekend, franchise quarterback Tony Romo signed a 6-year $108 million contract extension to remain with the Dallas Cowboys. While the estimated $18 million per year makes Romo the fifth highest paid player based on salary, he is actually the new highest paid player after taxes in the NFL.

The Cowboys QB now claims the top spot previously held by Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints because of no state income tax in Texas. With Romo’s income tax burden being 39.6 percent – the top marginal federal income tax rate in the U.S. – and estimated tax liability of $7.12 million, he still stands to earn $752,000 more than Brees.

Should be a selling point to all free agents that want to come to Texas and maximize their dollar.

They will pay for it if they buy property.

And people wonder why Sumerall, Bradshaw, Deion, etc. all live here. Outside of cheap cost of living the no state income tax is awesome.

Spags on Talkin' Cowboys brought up the most money from a 100 million dollar contract that a player has actually earned:

Brett Favre - earned 54 million of 100 million contract
Albert Haynesworth - earned 34 million of 100 million contract
Duante Culpepper - earned 28 million of 102 million contract

Not at you, but earned is a stretch, actually paid would be better

I guess I'm finally gonna have to breakdown and buy a Romo jersey since he'll be around for 6 more years.

Has Texas always had no income tax?

Pretty sure. Of course, all the revenue raising gets dumped into property taxes, so those get to pick up some of the slack.

Love it!! Haters?? :laugh2:

I am not a Romo hater, but is this really a good thing? With a salary cap, I don't see where paying out big contracts to any player over 30 is something to be proud of.
