I would keep him and let him be starter !
let him have one last chance, and see what happens.
He is going to be the healthiest he has been since 2006, he has had a year off now and by TC it will be 1 1/2 years.
He looked good in phil game, so we could be trading away or throwing away a very good QB, possibly better than Dak.

They could also let Dak start some of the games so it isnt a long 16 game season for either qb.

It is just one year !
and you dont know what you will actually get for tony, possibly nothing, and like a comp pick, and that guy is a bust, you got nothing.

Dak is young he has plenty of time to win SB's and he didnt get it done in 2016,
so I am all for benching him in favor of Tony and just see what he can do.

I would want Dak to start games, and play whole game to keep him in the groove, and rest tony.
Question is which games, and they would need to be spaced .
Some teams Dak might match up better with or just every 5th game he starts.

Many would like to see this, and tony would get one last shot to get a ring with cowboys.
It would also increase his value if it worked out right.
And it might get cowboys a SB win.

If Tony gets hurt, Dak takes over , no problemo !
And I dont think it would bother Dak for tony to get 1 last chance.

I like the idea, what do you guys and gals think ??

I know it wont happen, but maybe jerry hears about this thread, and likes it too lol.

No! Tony is the past. Long overdue to move on. Prescott is the present and the future. Pointless to waste any more time on a 37 yr old with serious injuries and who has never won anything when it counted.

No let Romo win a Super Bowl with Denver/Houston while we continue to grow with Dak.

I know the cap hit, numbers, etc, etc won't allow it, but keep Romo and have a camp competition. That lone TD drive Romo had against Philly this year was effortless. Give Romo a shot in camp; if he wins, he starts. Dak is obviously the future and we all know it, but a healthy Romo is hard to beat............

I didn't realize Dak played defense. You say he didn't get it done yet he outplayed Aaron Rodgers. He was not the reason we lost. It was the defense. There's no guarantee Romo would have won that game, he possibly would have thrown multiple Ints. He hasn't had many great playoff games. The last 3 times he got hit he got hurt so he might not even survive a full game. He was not hit during the Eagles drive.

Why would Romo want to agree to this? He would start in 20 teams in this league, why agree to a competition where he might not?

Romo gets blamed every time he loses... Dak is going to get the same.

He only outplayed rodgers in the 4th qtr, the first 3 qtrs GB outscored dallas in each qtr.
The 1 int that stopped a drive was a really bad pass by prescott, it wasnt anywhere near cole who I am pretty sure it was supposed
to go to.

we dont know how romo would have done, but then you say he has ints, or gets hurt, and we dont know that either.

All I know is Tony looked sharp in the eagle game, and he is fully healed and rested, and forget the GB game, I am talking 7 months
from now Tony should be the best shape he has been in years, and now people want to dump him ??

The only problem there is JG may not want Romo to start, so the competition could be biased from the start.
I would just make tony the starter, and like I said let Dak play 4-5 of the games during the season, that way it rests tony,
and keeps dak in the groove.
The future is still there for Dak, and this could increase Tonys value by showing he can still play good, take hits, and maybe he
goes all the way.

The other option is to pay tony what 14 mil to play for another team??

So one drive means more than one season? What more did Dak need to do to earn the starting job, yet people like you want to dump him because of a single drive? Romo was a very good pro bowl caliber QB that came up small in the playoffs. Those are facts. There's really no reason to look back other than blind love for Romo (that many of you and Jerry Jones share) Again I'm not dissing him but Dak had the greatest rookie QB season ever yet he can't earn the starting job. You act like Romo is Tom Brady, he's not. I like Romo as a QB and as a person, but the only way any QB earns a life time starting job when another QB balled is if you win at least one Super Bowl. Romo hasn't even gotten to the NFC Championship. I'm sure I'll hear the excuses that it was the teams fault and not Romo's so I don't get the logic Dak played better than Romo probably ever played in a playoff game but he's to blame and not the team but all of the mishaps with Romo were the teams fault. Amazingly dumb logic.

I feel bad for Dak he has an owner and many in the fanbase that just won't give him any credit. If they start Romo next year it could open the door for Dak to wait it out and leave when he's a free agent and refuse to play ball with a team that didn't want to even give him the starting job when he played exceptionally well. Stop blaming the playoff loss on Dak there's no logic to it at all. The defense and quite a few bad ref calls caused us the game.

It's amazing to me that some want to risk our future just to get a little more of the past when the past gave no championships and there's no reason to think that will change at 37 years of age and multiple injuries, It's akin to being engaged but trying to give it up for an old fling that never worked before yet you think it will work now. Romo's recent injury history has and should cost him the starting job, and because of Dak's play and Romo's lack of playoff success there shouldn't be any looking backwards. Why can't people be excited for Dak going into his second season where there's little doubt he will be even BETTER, that was just his rookie year. We're probably going to win multiple Super Bowls with this team we just caught a bad break that wasn't the QBs fault. The offense put up 31 and still lost so you may want to start looking at the other side of the ball instead of making a drastic unneccessary change at QB.

There isn't going to be Romo starting some games and Dak starting others that's just silly casual fan talk. It hasn't happened since Landry and it was a disaster. Every team chooses one starting QB for a reason.

Dak is the future.

People want to dump him because he is a overpaid backup and the Cowboys have needs to fill.

I can think of a defensive end position for a starter...and would settle for a quality right offensive tackle.

Tony gets 10,700,000 regardless in signing bonus prorated $ no way out of that.
His base salary is 14,000,000 if he is cut or traded, that is what cowboys would have to work with and tony would be gone.
So what if Tony said he would take 4 mil in base salary, if he could start just in 2017 ?
That would make it 10,000,000 that cowboys would have to work with plus tony is still here.
That 10 mil could buy 1 maybe 2 top defensive free agents.
The other thing is we would still have two top qb's and tony could get his last chance as qb of the cowboys.
Plus with dak we dont really need the other bkup qb's.

So getting rid of Romo in that scenario only adds 4 mil, but then part of that has to pay another bkup qb or 2.
If tony plays and doesnt get hurt again, then his trade value goes way up, and they might get a high pick for him after the season.
