if you got a point for every catch id agree with you, but you need to get TDs to get points, and there isn't another reciever who is as much a threat to go to the house on any play as owens. the name of the game is TDs, yards, and affecting the game. TO is right at the top in all catagories.

When was the last time TO broke one?
really?
it has been a long time since he made a screen pass matter.

I think he has it in him but he hasn't shown it here, not with us.
I just don't see it for so long as he has had that star on his head.

I truly hope he proves me wrong and makes me look stupid.

It's absolutely true though. He is a good wide receiver. He is not great. If you give another wideout the same QB and the same offensive system for his entire career, and have that QB be Peyton Manning? I'd venture to say you'd get similar numbers.

manning is likely the best qb in the league, but not a single person would be saying that about him if he didn't have marvin harrison and reggie wayne catching his passes. Dallas Clark is as good as witten, great receivers make great QB's and vice versa. Manning wouldn't be near what he is if he wasn't playing with the guys he is.

short slants count too.. any other reciever gets tackled on the TD over the middle against the Gmen. also that play in the preseason, where he ran inbetween three defenders and came out the other side.. his ability doesn't only apply to screens.

TonyRomo#9

manning looks just as good with marvin out, manning is the one making them look good, not the other way around.. come on.

reggie wayne and dallas clark are killer receivers put reggie swinton and terance copper in there and if manning still wrecked the NFL then sure, I just don't see it. Manning is great but unless he had the supporting cast he would be just another great QB who fell short. Football more than any other sport is a real deal team sport, unless you as a team play well you just won't win.

reggie and dallas a killer recievers, but marvin > either correct?
therefore he must be amazing.
but him not being there has no impact on mannings domination.. hmm
something doesnt add up

Well, you could say the same thing about Romo and Terry Glenn. Glenn is considered one of the better receivers in the league, but now that he's out we're still rolling.

Either way, I'm with you on this. I think it's more Manning than it is his receivers, but we have no real way of proving it. It's a chicken or the egg argument.

right, but TO gets the nod for me, because we do know, he has been dominate in 3 different places.

Exactly. Neither Terry Glenn nor Marvin Harrison would be worth a damn with Joey Harrington or the like throwing to them.

terry glenn had favre throwing to him in green bay and I am pretty sure no one here thought he was special when we got him. He proved us wrong and now to cowboys' fans we look at him as special. Terry has been great here, and to be honest I think more of him than I do TO, but really and for truly who thinks terry glenn was an elite receiver before he got here?
one play can make another, but alone without a compliment are they really elite?
look at what joey galloway has done since he left here, most said he is done and washed up, yet the guy gets into the right situation and lights it up.
Situation trumps talent in my opinion.

Marvin Harrison is an above average receiver that has the best QB to ever live throwing at him.

He is not even close to being the best receiver in the NFL.

Wow.

Manning isn't even the best QB in Colts history.

Yup. He is our best to be honest. I mean our team is loaded with talent, but Romo flat out wins games for us. Of course, it is always an unfair question when we are talking QBs, just like the MVP award. But it is impossible to vote against this guy as far as our team is concerned. He has been consistently lighting the league on fire.

Tony Romo, with three 300 yard games, has tied the single season franchise record.

In 1/4 of the season.

Staubach, White, Aikman...none of them managed that. Different eras and all, but still - tied the franchise record in 4 games.

Well, I think it is the wrong question. It should not be, who is the BEST player on the team; it should be, who is the most VALUABLE player on the team?

Other players may be better when measured against others in the NFL, but I think Romo is more valuable to this team than any other player on it. To that extent, I agree with you.

Tony Romo is far and away the most important player we have. Take away Ware and we still compete. Take away TO and Romo still has big days throwing to Hurd and Crayton. Take away Witten and we still roll with Fasano. Take away Newman and we just have to score a little more.

But... Take away Romo and we're just another team. Seriously.

Make no mistake. We're special and hard to beat as long as Romo is our QB.

After reading that, you pretty much have me convinced. It's a lot better having a QB that has you expecting some sort of magic to happen on every play than it was having QBs where you were expecting some sort of disaster everytime they dropped back to pass.

And it's true, you take away Romo and we're just another team.
