Do you remember the 2007 Monday Night Football thriller against the Buffalo Bills? It was arguably Romo's worst and best game of his entire career. Buffalo's defensive coordinator?

Perry Fewell.

Romo had serious issues checking the ball down and taking what the defense gave him. He was consistently forcing the ball down the field and it was only until the final minutes of the quarter did Romo and the offense adjust, which lead to the improbable 25-24 victory.

Fast forward to the 2013 opener against the Giants and who's the defensive coordinator for the New York?

Perry Fewell.

If you guys and gals remember, Romo did have a high completion percentage in the game, but his average yards per attempt was pretty low. Pewell was attempting to bait Romo once again. Hey Perry, this isn't 2007. There were numerous checkdowns and passes to Murray in the flat, and I believe it was one of Romo's most efficient games. He's learned from his previous mistakes. We obviously could have executed better in the redzone, but Romo knew when to check the ball down and didn't feel obligated to throw the ball down the field. He's a savvy veteran in the NFL and I'm excited about Romo's final run with the Cowboys.

Go Tony Romo and go Cowboys.

Yeah, I love the check downs when it is 3rd and 7 and he throws a 2 yard pass to his BFF (without pressure). Us being ineffective in the red zone almost cost us the game. 2 minutes left and Eli has the ball at the 50.

Isn't it better than throwing 5 INT's?

Did you like the two red zone td passes to his "bff"?

By the way, by bff I assume you mean one of the best TEs off all time that any QB in his right mind would throw the ball to a lot

Oh yeah, but we almost had the same outcome as the last Giants game in which he threw 4 INT's. Only major difference were the 6 turnovers we had on defense. Can we count on those every game?

3rd and 7 and no pressure, almost certainly means that the entire defense is dropping back into coverage...

There was a 3rd down where Romo passed short to Witten, and Witten made one of his best runs after the catch to get a first down. Sometimes players need to make plays for an offense to work.

Romo was actually pretty effective in the redzone. Mistakes and penalties by other players is what cost us in the redzone against the Giants.

First redzone trip: Penalty by Tyron Smith on 2nd and 7.
Second redzone trip: Escobar losing his shoe leads to an incomplete pass and a wrong route by Williams leads to an interception.
Third redzone trip: Drop by Miles Austin on 1st down, only got 2 yards on a run on second down, incomplete pass on third down, field goal.
Fourth redzone trip: Touchdown
Fifth redzone trip: Touchdown

The reality is we didn't have the ball much on offense in the 2nd half.

He conveniently forgets the positives...one track mind regarding Romo.

Maybe the most myopic poster I have ever seen in this forum.

But it's an open forum...so he has a right.

I think the problems on offense were more about the inabilities of the wide receivers to gain separation and get open consistently. There were lots of times when Romo sat in the pocket and had to take the dreaded, coverage sack. The WR's need to step up their game against KC.

We have always had problems in the red zone. We either blame the Oline, RB's, or now... WR's. Never the coaching or Romo. Think about it.

No one blames the RZ problems on the coaching? Since when? It was one of the main criticisms of Garrett and why many here thought he should be stripped of play-calling duties.

Your record is getting scratched and not playing the right tune all the time. Might want to get that checked out...

That's a pretty generalized statement though. I'm pretty sure Romo and Garrett have been correlated with every Cowboy problem since 2007...

You have your opinion and I have mine.. no need for personal attacks though man. Last I checked that was against forum rules to personally attack people.

Our failures in the red zone are due to an ineffective running game. I blame the GM and JG for that.

I know Perry Fewell. He is one of my best friends dad. I was at that Buffalo game on Monday night. I stayed the night at his house and we were talking about the game. I remember being overly confident that Dallas was going to put a whooping on the Bills. Perry said that he had something special for Romo and the Cowboys offense. And when the game started out like that, I was shocked. Thank god they pulled it off that night. I remember sitting with the coaches families, not allowed to cheer for the Cowboys. But after the second FG, I let a cheer out! Good times!

Fewell didn't just get there you know... I'm pretty sure except for the Dez finger game that Romo has lit up the Giants under Fewell like a Christmas tree. Bottom line is that last week the Giants just came out with a good plan on defense and mostly executed it well.
