In Denver, Romo would replace Trevor Siemian, who has thrown just 12 touchdowns (tied for 17th in the NFL) this season against seven picks (tied for 14th).

Romo has also been hotly linked to the New York Jets (+900), who will likely move on from Ryan Fitzpatrick in the off-season.

According to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, the Cowboys trading Romo before June 1 would result in a $19.6 million dead cap hit. La Canfora added that it's "hardly out of the question" that Romo remains a member of America's Team.

Those numbers have to be per $100 bet not $1. Otherwise you could put $100 on each option and win a ton of money with zero risk.

The Cowboys are not eating a $24+ million cap hit to keep Romo as a backup in 2017, and a trade before June 1st still saves them like $5 million against the cap. A June 1st move saves them like $14 million.

I guess what I'm saying is that La Canfora is a hack.

I cant decide on whom it'll be...denver seems to have o-line issues...dont know that he would want there.

I think if you remove everything but the playing location....Buffalo seems to could be a spot.

Arizona would be my dark horse in this race.. good WRs, good defense,, decent to good running game.. Make them the team to beat, Palmer is all but done it seems. Other than that, don't see a team in the NFC that would be attractive to Tony.. Chicago is a total mess - unless Fox is fired and they hire Scott as their HC.. I don't think Denver really makes much sense either, unless Lynch is just bad. Houston makes the most sense, good d, really good WR. decent running game.. need to shore up their OL though but it makes sense.. he could even sign a team friendly deal since Jerry will be paying him anyway. That makes Houston an instant contender. Another place is Minny.. depending on what Bridgewater does.. they are not happy with Bradford at all,, big shock there.

I think Arizona makes the most sense for Tony. Denver is the best mutual option for Romo and the Cowboys I think.

The obvious question is, why?

If he doesn't want to play anymore he's going to retire, and the contract won't matter obviously.

If he wants to play, he'll have to leave Dallas.

That's pretty much it.

IMO the only scenario where Romo re-does his contact is to make it easier for Dallas to trade him to the team he wants to go to.

The obvious question is, why? ...........So dallas has 2 good qb's !! and to make sure
dak is not a one year wonder before you let tony go elsewhere. Some players have the one great year and thats it.
Tony would be the insurance if that is the case.

If he wants to play, he'll have to leave Dallas.....maybe not

one possibility

I'm thinking Jacksonville or maybe Miami. Jacksonville has got to be ready to move on from Bortles. They're not loaded with offensive talent but they're young and working on putting together a decent defense. They're also in a winnable division. Miami has had lukewarm appreciation for Tannenhill but he has played better of late. I question if Elway would want a veteran like Romo, I think he may want to stick with his 2 young guns. I also question if Romo would go to any east coast or northern teams. I don't think playing in a cold weather city would be attractive to Romo. This is all predicated on Romo either being released or Jerry trading him to a team that Romo is agreeable to. I don't think Jerry would trade him to a team that Romo doesn't want to play for.

Denver would seem like the option Tony would pick. That would place him outside our conference, much less our division.

Don't see where it makes sense for AZ to go from one 37 year old QB to another who has injury concerns. They're better off staying with Palmer and try and find a young QB to groom.

Miami has won 6 straight games and Tannehill is playing pretty good so I don't see Romo going there. Bortles turns the ball over a lot but he still a young, productive QB and I'm not sure JAX wants to give up this soon on another top 10 pick at QB since 2011. Denver would be the best bet because they've shown the willingness to take a chance on an aging QB with injury issues when they went after Manning. It's going to take a team willing to gamble that Romo can stay healthy for a year or two but I don't think he can. He's become so brittle getting a full season out of him isn't very likely.
