Too Early Really, but here's my take on the 53 man roster:

This year I think we keep guys we believe will be PLAYERS and cut some backups who make too much money...churning the roster.

QB...Romo, Kitna, McGee...duh
RB...Barber, Jones, Choice...double duh
FB/HB...Gronkowski...no more chirping crickets
TE...Witten, Bennett, Sicko
WR...Austin, Williams, Crayton, Bryant, Ogletree, Holly...good luck Sam
OL...Gurode & Costa...Colombo, Free, Barron, Young, Brewster...Davis, Holland, Kozier

DT...Brent, Ratliff...thanks for the memories, Siavii
DE...Olshanski, Spears, Bowen, Dixon....just didn't show enough upside Hatcher
LB...Brooking, James, Ware, Spencer...Lee, J or L Williams (up in the air), Butler, B. Williams
CB...Jenkins, Newman, Scandrick, Gordon, McCann
S...Ball, Sensabaugh, McCray, Owusu-Ansah

kicker, punter, long-snapper...the usual 3

On the bubble for final spot: Hamlin and whichever Williams LB isn't a direct backup (Jason or Leon)

I don't think we keep projects on the 53 this year beyond McGee...everyone else is either a backup, can play two positions, or is ear-marked for special teams. The inactive guys on gameday are likely to be OL, DL, or DB

Hate to say goodbye to Hatcher, Siavii, Hurd, and some backup LBs, but that's what happens when your depth improves. If you're a fifth year player and not pressing for playing time, you've got to go play somewhere else.

Wade would cut Bowen before Hatcher. Hatcher is Spears replacement, not Bowen. Hatcher is better vs the run. Ever wonder why Spears and Igor are the starters and their pass rush isn't almost non-existent? They are run stoppers.

Dixon would never make it before both Bowen or Hatcher.

I think the other RB makes it to the PS before Donaldson. Can't remember his name. Starts with an L.

I think Hatcher and Hurd make it instead of Dixon and Holly. Olgetree needs to show something as well.

I think it's all about money...Bowen was the primary backup at DE last season. Hatcher didn't get a lot of playing time and didn't produce much either. Bowen is the guy I think they are excited about and the guy who will start for Spears if he isn't ready.

Bowen and Hatcher are both 5 year players as backups...I don't think we keep them both. That's why I think we jettison Hatcher and take a look at the younger kid, Dixon. Bowen will still be the primary backup.

That's also how I feel about Hurd...Hurd isn't going to play receiver. He's been here long enough to show that, and we've only gotten stronger at the position. Holly was given his special teams duties in the last game to test him, and he did just as well as Hurd. Holly saves a ton of money and can give you the same thing.

I think Hatcher and Hurd have proven they are career backups at best...we'll go with younger guys. That's my reasoning.

I think Sicko gets a free year in Dallas due to Phillips' injury...next year he's gone to another team.

You may be correct, but this Thursday will be his first chance to prove it. The younger guys have proven they can make plays. This Thursday's game is critically important for Hamlin, I believe.

apparently the new guy, Rucker (or something like that) was running behind Witten and Bennett in practice today. I don't know if that really means anything or not though.

I like all three of our rookie safeties, but I can't believe that if one of our starters went down (especially Ball) the Cowboys would be comfortable with starting Church or McCray.

I don't think he's locked in, but I do think Sicko's shown more in the short time he was on the field than anyone else vying for the fourth tight end/fullback slot.

He's definitely got to show more, though, over the next couple of weeks to not end up a practice squad candidate.

I think we all put McGee on the roster because either he makes it or we pick up another backup later. I don't see this team going into the season with only two QBs who know the offense, and you aren't going to take an older guy like Kitna and expect him to do a good job simulating the other team's QB on the scout squad, especially anyone athletic.

We'll carry 3 QBs.

Most of us are picking Sicko because the Cowboys really wanted him here and because he was playing at the top of the depth chart behind our big 3...after Phillips was lost for the year and Sicko had a concussion, that's when we brought in the other guys. Sicko looks like a guy who could play TE or HB. But who knows...maybe the coaches like someone else better now.
