This is just pure speculation on my part but it is just to quiet with the boyz right now. Not counting the Newman debacle which imo is just overblown media working for a story. Under the JJ era when things are this quiet it has in most cases led to the boyz making some sort of move. I just have this gut feeling they are going to bring in Lucas...this IS purely speculation on my part as I have no inside information other than being a fan of over 30 years...this team has gotten younger this offseason and has made moves that will no longer lead to finger pointing this team is a two headed head coach driven team with little red leading the off and the cupcake leading the def...with what is out there imo Lucas is the only one who makes sense if and a big if he comes in knowing he isnt going to start...if nothing happens this week I will be suprised but on a positive note it will be one week closer to the season...

Hopefully we're getting ready to draft some talented prospects again.

I definitely think we need to bring in one veteran CB via FA.

We cut/traded this off-season

R Williams
K Davis
PacMan
A Henry

And we signed Sensabaugh.

Our CBs are currently Newman, Jenkins, and Scandrick (with now being Ball moved to Safety). We typically carry at least 5 CBs, if not 6.

I think we should bring in one veteran CB in FA, and I would attempt to fill the other 2-3 vacancies via the Draft (one Safety and 1-2 more CBs).

some here will disagree with me but i think we still need 2 veterans:

1. WR (holt, i would give him the 3-5 mill/yr for 3 years he is looking for)
2. CB

this is because while we have young ones at both positions, esp at WR we only have RW to rely on. we are in a "win now" mode and that means we need another WR who is a known quantity. before people start jumping off buildings :D we can still draft a guy low in the draft who will be a PR/KR. stanback and the rookie will fight for the last spot.

just my .02

good catch on the to(TO) that is also why I think it may be quite...but thanks for the grammar help anyway...sorry i can not name all the when's either it is just very quiet for them not to be up to something...unless they (front office) are just taking a big sigh and enjoying the peace that the release of to TO has brought....I just can't agree on Holt I live in kc and I am very familiar with Holt..his knees are shot and I just don't think a guy coming off two bad seasons has anything positive left to give..where as Lucas, declining yes, but look at his stats consistant...

One last question for the day as I sit in my home in the blaw day this is just getting back from the funeral of my next door neighbor and listening to my two year old boy upstairs fight the nap he must take I turn on the TV and turn to the nfl network and smile my 92 cowboys are on the team that finally beat its bitter rival in the playoffs thus causing the turning point of a eventual dynasty and team that realized its true potential....will this squad loaded with number one picks and high profile players ever put it together or realize their destiny?? that is the question...will they or wont they? I know I hope so..

Just as we speak, Jerry Jones is working out a sign-and-trade where he will sign Lucas and trade him to the Bills for T.O. straight up. That way, Jones can tell us how he listened and cut T.O. and then perfectly filled the big hole left behing at WR by bringing in a veteran. But shhhhh....don't tell anybody. We need to keep this quiet so the rest of the league doesn't catch on.

It could also be because the season's over, we haven't hit the draft yet, and there's no football...

While the Cowboys haven't made a splash in Free Agency of the fat kid from the diving board doing a cannon ball variety, they wouldn't exactly garner 10's from judges in an olympic diving contest either. That having been said, I think this lull in moves very well may be more akin to what Jerry Jones described this period would be prior to draft. They made some key additions to provide the opportunity to draft using the same strategy they used in last years successful crop: draft BPA regardless of need.

I do agree CB is a huge need, but with our more important need of nailing Ware down to a suitable contract and the ability to sign players from the upcoming draft, all staying under our limited cap, I don't see any further moves happening in Free Agency. Though, at the right price, I hope the Cowboys do at least get another veteran at CB. Ken Lucas definitely looks to be the best available, all things considered, but if it hasn't already happened, I doubt it will.
