Toomer: Romo better than Eli

I didn't say those were hypotheticals. The shoulda coulda wouldas you posted about his numbers were. How many dynasties exist now days? That era is over in the NFL with the cap. So that's Eli's fault? His team won and he was a big catalyst to winning those SB. Sounds just like sour grapes. Cowboys been losers while Eli's been winning.

Not close to sour grapes. Eli and the Giants won two Super Bowls by gtetting hot at the right time and getting a lot of help along the way.

You want to dispute that fact? Feel free. We can go down that road if you'd like.

Oh so because he put his ego aside his stats suffered? lol whatever.

Yeah, whatever.

The fact is that unlike other quarterbacks, Aikman never complained about a run-first approach, despite the fact that he was one of the most skilled quarterbacks of all time.

Eli isn't in the conversation in terms of arm strength or accuracy.

Of course he is going to pass him up in stats. He throws the ball a lot more because of today's game. However, one key stat Eli will never gain is completion % over Troy.

After comparing each of their first 8 years in the league, Eli has almost 800 more pass attempts than Troy did. Eli also 31 more interceptions than Troy did.

It is a different era, Troy was not required to pass like Eli is. I have no doubt that Troy would bury Eli in stats if both played in the same time-frame.

To say that Troy is overrated is asinine. If anything, Eli is the overrated one. Maybe Emmit was the the Cowboys then, but Troy was the glue that held that team together. He instilled in his teammates that winning was the only option.

If Troy is in the hall of fame so will Eli Manning. End of story.

Real1st;4612750 said:
He created those dynasties? I guess the other hall of fame players were made by troy. You're kidding yourself. Each benifited from each other but Troy benefited the most with that offensive line and Emmitt Smith. Not to mention he had #88 on the outside.

So would you likewise care to make the case that Eli somehow won thos championships on his own?

Please.

Those two Giants teams won because of one reason.

Defense.

They got hot at just the right time.

Aikamn and the Cowboys didn;t need that luck, they were always that good.

They didn't luck into the playoffs because someone else collapsed or win because a receiver stuck a ball on his helmet.

They were truly great. And they will be remembered as such.

You know it and I know it.

Eli did enough along the way.

No more, no less.

I never once said Eli wouldn't be in the HOF. With 2 rings and 2 MVP's, he will get there someday. That is what not this whole debate is about.

Eli may very well get into the Hall, and good for him if he does.

His resume already looks pretty good with two championships on it.

But his Giants teams will never, ever be held in the same light as Aikman and the Cowboys are.

Not unless they win a few more anyway.

Skilled but because his team had a run first approach that is bullcrap. They ran because we had Emmitt freaking Smith. The greatest RB of all time.

Eli's arm strength is very comparable to Aikman. Also you are making it seem like Aikman could throw a great deep ball when he couldn't. It was decent but he wasn't elite in terms of arm strength period. His accuracy is what made him special. That is where Eli can't compare.

I guess those two superbowl MVPs don't count.

You don't come in a debate as put in hypotheticals. Saying troy Aikman "would" put up astronomical numbers in a passing offense is like me saying if i continued to play hockey in high school i would have made it to the NHL. It didn't happen. That's the bottom line.

Aikman won SBs which is an team accomplishment. But he wasn't the MVP of the team. Emmitt always was and will be. His record will probably never be broken with how the career of the running back is short in today's game. He was a Good technician as a QB. His mechanics were flawless but lets not act like he was that great when he had an HOF supporting cast around him.

Dude, you don't know what you are talking about. You are talking regular season. Go look at those playoff games. Aikman was the MVP of the first Super Bowl win. Aikman and Smith equally carried the load in those playoff games, and in fact, if one overshadowed the other IN PLAYOFF football, it would have been Aikman over Smith. (With the single exception of the second Super Bowl win. That was Emmitt's MVP performance). In the 3rd Super Bowl win Emmitt was shut down.

Dude, please shut up.

Smith was the Dallas Cowboys MVP period in those dynasties.

Not shutting up. And just as I thought. If your public profile is accurate, you are 25 years old. You were 5 when they won the first one. I think I'll trust my eyes that actually watched it when I was an adult.

Its not accurate and even if i was i have all the games from the 90s ON VHS tape.

So i'll trust my eyes. Emmitt Smith was the undisputed MVP.

Aikman did exactly what he needed to in order to win championships. If that meant handing the ball off 30+ times to do it? So be it.

He put ego aside for the greater good of the team.

I would never try to find fault with such selfless play.

Man you sure short changed Aikman, Dilfer wanted to know if he could get into the HOF to because of his selfless play?

Things will only get worse.

Skilled but because his team had a run first approach that is bullcrap. They ran because we had Emmitt freaking Smith. The greatest RB of all time.

And nothing about a tremendous, huge, run-blocking line? Here's something you're not getting. To compliment one part of that team isn't slighting another.

Eli's arm strength is very comparable to Aikman. Also you are making it seem like Aikman could throw a great deep ball when he couldn't. It was decent but he wasn't elite in terms of arm strength period. His accuracy is what made him special. That is where Eli can't compare.

Seems like a good time for a 'whetever'. It's obvious you're going to see whatever you want to see, regardless of what reality shows.

The biggest difference between Romo and Eli is that Eli and his team just get hot at the right time while the Cowboys' whole team seems to melt down at crucial times. If you look at pure QBing, Romo is just the better QB. Half the time, Eli is getting bailed out by incredible catches while Romo is getting sunk by half routes (I'm looking at you Patrick Crayton) or a defense that can't stop anyone on 3rd down on the last possession of games.

Well the reality is i don't take a guy who is a bevis and butthead fan serious.

lol. Then go watch the playoff ones again.

Super Bowl XXVII - Aikman MVP
Super Bowl XXX - Aikman 15-23, 209 1 TD 0 interceptions.
Emmitt Smith had 18 carries for 49 yards - less than 3 yards per carry.

I love Smith. One of the greatest running backs to ever play. But if you think he carried Aikman in the playoffs, you need to go study your DVD's. They shared the load together.

And btw, Aikman, Smith and Irvin don't even debate about their contribution the way Cowboys fans do. They all contributed equally.

When all logic fails, take a shot at a picture.

Sure beats thinking, right?

Funny seeing that it's your criteria we're discussing. Oh yeah and Dilfer is still awaiting your answer.:bang2:
