Top 10 DT's-per DraftBuzz, Dane's top 50 DT's

Dallas needs to come out of the draft with 2 DT at the very least - 1 being a high draft pick. There is limited FA's and your best DT is a FA
This is the position we need to trade for! Swing a trade for a vet with all those 5th round picks. Something similar to the Cooks/Gilmore trades from 2 years ago.

I’ll forever be angry that we picked Taco with TJ Watt on the board. Hated it when we made the pick and still hate it lol
We all wanted Watt, Marinelli was the one who thought he couldn't play with his hand in the dirt.

Taco over Watt and Ramsey over Zeke were the most disappointing picks I’ve experienced since I’ve gotten into the draft.

Worst part about the Zeke pick? Could’ve gotten Henry in the 2nd.

Sweat is currently in seventh place for RDPOY contention.
Never said he was a bad pick. Late 1st/early 2nd is a great spot to pick a big DT. Top 15 where people seem toexpect Walker to be ranked is an entirely different discussion though.

Walker's stock goes up and down. How he finishes the season and then the combine will tell the tale of where he goes

Aeneas Peebles DT from Va Tech. Athletic 3 tech with a very high motor. I expect to see his name rise as the process goes on.

CJ West from Indiana is also a beast. Wreaking havoc vs Ohio St right now. Type of guy that will be a steal if he goes 3rd round or later

I was watching the Oklahoma-Alabama game last night and one guy who caught my eye was Da'Jon Terry the DT from Oklahoma. I had no idea who he was before last night and he is not on any of the top draft boards I looked at.

He is 6'3" 330lbs. What impressed me is his ability to get off blocks, move laterally and make tackles. His movement was excellent despite his size. I was surprised to find out he is not on anyone's list of tackles. But I only watched him play in this one game so it is possible he had a good day. Still, I will keep an eye on him going forward. Perhaps he is an undrafted free gents they can sign and give an opportunity.

yeah maybe a seventh. But I get some bohannon vibes from him

When I’m “grading” these DT’s, while high sack numbers would be great, the numbers I judge them by are TFL’s and tackles. Sacks are just the icing on the cake to me. So, as of today, these are the following Tackles and TFL numbers for the highly rated DT’s (I threw in sacks just because):

Graham - 101 Tackles, 18 TFL, 9 sacks (3 years)
Grant - 65, 11, 6.5 (3 years - just became a starter this year)
Harmon - 107, 14, 6.5 (4 years)
Walker - 131, 23, 10 (3 years)
Nolen - 106, 23, 10 (3 years)
Williams - 115, 25, 11.5 (4 years)
A. Collins - 125, 16, 7 (5 years)
Corleone - 110, 18, 9.5 (3 years)
West - 143, 25, 9 (5 years)

Compare that to:

Mazi - 88, 7, .5 (3 years)
Chris Jones - 102, 19, 8.5 (3 years)
Jeff Simmons - 163, 33, 7 (3 years)

So, it looks like most of these are NOT a Mazi clone and that is a draft DEEP with DT’s that are potentially playmakers at the next level. I want 2 of them (including guys that I haven’t even listed like Toia from UCLA).

100% agree with you on measuring tackles and TFLs for DT production... you want to see them consistently get off blocks and make plays.

I think this would work even better if you divided it up by tackles per game, or at least tackles per start.

I like this way of using stats for DTs, the 3 year guys seem to be the ones to go after...Nolen and Walker will be guys I look at to see how they move.
