I'm a bit unclear. Who said these things?

I am just waiting for someone to come on here and say "Who is Tom Landry?"

Football is an incredible game. Sometimes it's so incredible, it's unbelievable.

There's more than a little Yogi Berra in this one.

It will happen. I just like how Tom Landry is written 22 times including the thread title.

I think his best line was after the Monday night football death threat.
One OL player apologised for not going near him for fear of being killed.
He said that's ok, you haven't blocked anything all year.

Something like that.

No doubt Landry was not a rah rah type guy. He kept himself under control because he felt like players looked to him and if he was losing it on the side line they would too.

Different coaches do things different way there is no one way to do the job.

Something I believe Garrett lives by. Just hasn't gotten the results yet.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious preparation is important to JG. It bums me out that the idea of getting smart players and preparing them has become a notion to ridicule here, because it's maybe what I like best about our current direction, and I believe, strongly, it's how you build a team capable of winning consistently. We just need the postseason results.

I hear you. It's what gives me some confidence in Garrett, now it is just up to them to prove it. I sure hope they do.

That is how he does it but then that is who he is, that is his personality. Trying to act a certain way will never work players see through that BS.

There is no one book on coaching

Landry was not a rah rah type guy, but many of his assistant coaches were. Ernie Stautner had a very different demeanor from Landry. That makes for a good mixture of leadership for the players.
