Teams know their own guys. It’s always a risk bringing in a player from another organization because they might not fit in. We’ve seen a lot of high priced free agents not play well for their second team. More than just a few don’t live up to their huge contracts.

100 Top free agents stood at the top of the most-prized list just 10 ago.
56 are now signed.

Let's break it down
24 could sign anywhere, but landed right back with their original team
32 were signed to new teams

And this doesn't tell the whole story. Many times teams want to keep their own but simply get outbid, or don't have cap space to even make an offer.
Most of our fans don't care about facts, just love to complain...about every little thing ! Lol

The Eagles were in a good situation to load up last year for two reasons:
-They'd only won 4 games in 2020 and 9 games in 2021...so they had higher picks than us
-They had a QB who was making just 1.6 million!!! Their entire QB room cost only $2.5 mil.

You can massively splurge on single season in that situation and they wisely did.
We have been in similar positions before and did not "massively splurge." This team drafts well and deserves credit for that, but it's impossible for me to defend their poor use of free agency and then discredit teams that went for it and succeeded in the effort.

When were we in a similar situation to Eagles last offseason? Please spell it out. When Dak was in his early days we were still paying big for Romo's contract. And we haven't had a really bad season like Philly's 4-12 in a long time. (Which led to a very fruitful draft for them)

Would you like us to tank so we could then splurge? (I might be one of the few who would be ok with that, LOL)

I don't think you have to tank to splurge. Dallas has had the money or ability to manipulate money to add a couple of high-value free agents. The cap is very malleable. For a team that has made the playoffs but come up short once it has gotten there, those couple of moves could have been all that was needed. The Joneses are cheap in FA because of philosophy not because they can't splurge.

They don't want to burn things to the ground like the Rams and the Saints have, w/unsustainable fiscal habits. I call that commendable.

The Eagles were able to splurge last year *and* stay fiscally sensible only because their QB room was pulling down just a few million dollars. If they want to keep Hurts that won't be a luxury for them in the future. The Chiefs occasionally splurge only because they're also willing to say goodbye to uber talents like Tyreek Hill.

I don't think just being a playoff team is commendable. I would rather burn it to the ground if it means making it to the Super Bowl. However, few are asking them to burn it to the ground. You don't have to do that to make good use of free agency and sign a couple of high-value players. The Jones way isn't avoiding burning it to the ground, it's avoiding making good use of a tenet of team-building. They got stubborn about "overpaying" because of the Carr signing and have dug their heels into that philosophy even though it has not been effective as far as playoff success. Meanwhile, we've seen other teams add a few big-ticket FA signings and win Super Bowls.
