If Ali wasn't the greatest self-promoter in history and Cosell never fell in love he'd be remembered as what he was -- one of the better heavyweights but not really that special.

If you want to say you don't think he was the greatest boxer, that's cool. You want to say Ray Robinson was better..Joe Louis...etc...that's cool.

Now with regard to your question, why would I want to isolate one fight when we are discussing an entire career.

There isn't one sports writer...boxing magazine...boxing professional who would agree with your statement that Ali isn't even a top ten guy.
