Just for fun, list (in your opinion) the Top 5 players on our offense and defense - 1 being the best 5 being the 5th best. You can explain your choices if you wish.

Mine:

Offense
1. Tony Romo, QB
2. Dez Bryant, WR
3. Jason Witten, TE
4. Miles Austin, WR
5. Tyron Smith, LT

For me, the offensive rankings were pretty easy. I almost put Murray on the list but he wasn't on the field enough for me to slide him ahead of Tyron, who was our best lineman as a rookie. Not sure if that says more about him or more about how terrible our line was/is... probably a little of both.

Defense
1. DeMarcus Ware, OLB
2. Sean Lee, ILB
3. Jay Ratliff, NT
4. Brandon Carr, CB
5. Sean Lissemore, DE

Defense was a bit harder. After Ware and Lee, Ratliff was the only obvious choice even though I've been vocal about our scheme needing a more traditional NT. I couldn't put Claiborne on the list as a rookie, he hasn't played an NFL snap and Jenkins is all over the place from year to year in terms of consistency, so Carr stole his spot. Last year Sean Lee proved he needed more snaps and responded well, this year, Lissemore should be a starter.

Offense

Romo
Witten
Tyron Smith

That's it. I only go 3 deep. I'm not ready to make Austin/Bryant part of my "Top 5" list for Offense.

Defense

Ware
Lee
Carr
Claiborne
Ratliff

Offense
1 Tony Romo

2 Dez Bryant
3 Jason Witten
4 Tyron Smith
5 Miles Austin

Defense
1 Demarcus Ware
2 Sean Lee

3 Mo Claiborne
4 Jay Ratliff
5 Brandon Carr

I don't understand how you only go 3 deep? Are you saying that in 2012 there will be only 3 players on offense that will play well? and How can you put a rookie who has never played a down in NFL football, or even put on a helmet for a real practice, and is currently injured in your top 5 for defense, but can only find room for 3 people on offense? Your opinions are very flawed.

Offense:
1. Romo
2. Dez
3. Miles
4. Witten
5. T. Smith

Defense:
1. Ware
2. Lee
3. Claiborne (prediction)
4. Carr
5. Rat

Romo
Murray
Bryant
Austin
Witten
Romo is Romo. Vickers and a hopefully improved interior OL will increase Murray's value if healthy. Bryant is hopefully going to make the jump to be among the best Wr in the league. Austin and Wittenberg(sp) round off the top. Can't make a LT a top five with all the weapons on offense.
Ware
Lee
Spencer
Carr
Ratliff
Ware is Ware, Lee is Lee. Almost Anyhony finally gets there with improved secondary and hopefully improved interior pressure form Crawford, Hatcher, and Ratliff.

Agree with offense that you have TheCount. Defense: I'd change Ratliff to Claiborne and Lissemore to Carter.

Tyron smith (the most important player on offense. tony and demarco could have big years but it's all based on Tyron)
Tony romo
Demarco Murray
Jason Witten
DEz Bryant

Defense
Demarcus ware (no matter what year Demarcus is the man who makes our defense go)
Sean lee
Morris claiborne
Brandon Carr
Anthony spencer

Offense
1. Romo
2. Smith
3. Witten
4. Murray
5. Bryant

Defense
1. Ware
2. Claiborne

We all seem to have the same 5 players on Offense, do you guys see any surprise players that could make the list?

Maybe Murray.

I think Felix Jones could easily be on this list but hasn't been put in the right offensive system to properly utilize his skills.

On a pure talent basis, I think he is only behind Dez and Tyron on the offensive side of the ball.

You like him better than Murray?

Other than the obvious (Murray, Felix), look out for Vickers. He may just put our run game over the top :)
