Lets say we end this debacle of a season poorly, with a back up QB and all the other injuries we have ad this year. And we end up with a top 5 pick.

What direction would you like the team to go with the first three rounds. Another way of asking... what do you think is our "biggest need"?

I think you have to look for either an impactful , stud DT or a top tier RB first.

I like Elliot a lot out of OSU. Pains me to say it, because i'm a Michigan fan, but I think he could add the balance this offense craves.
For a DT I like the Robinson kid out of Alabama. Not normally a big lover of Bama players but they have translated better as of late and He seems to have the size and strength to be a good player.

I'd love to hear the Zones thoughts?

well, that's not the exact direction I would go.

Obviously if you have the chance to take a franchise QB, you take him. But beyond that, the team could use...

A stud pass rusher, either at DT or DE
A stud secondary player, either at CB or S
A stud LB
A stud RB
A stud WR, if a Dez-like talent is BPA

I would be okay with pretty much everything but OL or TE, even though we could use another one of those as well.

There's not a franchise QB in this draft.
Don't need a rookie riding the bench contributing nothing. We need added talent on the field playing with an active Romo.
Bosa or Ramsey please.

Until he sees Romo dead in the casket and then buried in the ground, Jerry isn't picking a QB in the first round.

RB is off the table in the 1st. They're picking way too high to even consider it. For my assumption, I'm going to assume what Jerry hints at is going to happen and they pass on Goff/Lynch. I'm also going to assume Bosa is off the board 1st overall.

1st Jalen Ramsey, FS/CB Florida State- every down starting FS for years to come. Combine him with Jones and you have versatility for days.
Alternates- Robert Nkemdiche, DT Ole Miss, Vernon Hargreaves, CB Florida

2nd Emmanuel Ogbah, DE Oklahoma State- Good chance he goes higher than this on draft day depending on his combine. Explosive, NFL size DE with a good feel for getting after the QB.
Alternates Josh Doctson, WR TCU, Kendall Fuller, CB Virginia Tech

3rd- Devonte Booker, RB Utah- Dynamic playmaker who can catch the ball out of the backfield. Needs some work on pass protection. If he was 20 he probably goes much higher than this spot.
Alternates- Tyler Matakevitch, LB Temple, Hunter Henry, TE Arkansas

Wish we had a few more picks ! By seasons end we need to know - in no particular order. Is jones our future at FS, or as our hybrid CB that takes the TE everywhere. That will determine our need at one or the other position. (Probably will need 2 corners). Need an Idea at QB, its either our first high pick, or its our second rounder - but it needs to be done, and he needs to sit for a year or two. Salary cap makes it possible - money wise now, its not the huge investment it used to be. Ill say it to my dying days - DT is a huge need. LBers can be had a little later, but we need more of em. Mantakevich should be a target in 3-5 rounds.
Gonna be a real interesting draft this year, and one I'm sure we will all debate for a good while.

My top 5 selections:(this is depending on us picking top 5)
Bosa - We need pass rushers! Can't see Jerry signing Hardy.
Ramsey- Would look good in our secondary.
Miss on the top two, trade back several spots and pick
Jaylon Smith- fast, smart and can cover TE's
Move back several more spots
Zekiel Elliot
Hargreaves

Think about this - what if we end up picking say 6th or 7th. Both QB's and CB's are gone, Bosa and Nkemdiche are gone. Ramsey as well ... That leaves Tunsil, would they really take another O-lineman in the first ?
As much as that would finish the front, you would have to field trade offers right ? RIGHT ?

I don't see us finishing better than 4-12 with Cassel the rest of the way, and I don't see us going QB in the first considering who is likely to be there after the first few picks (Cook isn't worth it, and the first 2 will be off the board). I honestly wouldn't mind trading down if we can get a good enough deal. I think this draft is going to be really deep, but not very top heavy... if Romo can come back next year we need a team around him and we have more than a few holes that we could fill up next year with a few extra day 1/2 picks. Who knows, maybe we can get Cook in round 2.

Doubt we end up with a top 5 pick but if we do I'm taking Ramsey or Bosa. Hargreaves is a good player but i don't really want to spend a top 5 pick on a zone corner.

If we can't get one of them, try to trade down , get an extra pick, and take Jaylon Smith.

2nd round I'd look at RB or just BPA

3rd I like Desmond King out of Iowa. Great tackler and just has a knack for turnovers. He'd be a good fit in our scheme imo.

Prepare for disappointment. We don't draft DT's that high and we are going with DMC, Turpin, Dunbar and low round RB or FA next year.

Thats not necessarily true. From everything we heard the Cowboys had every intention of taking Aaron Donald if he was there. They were also supposedly after Sheldon Richardson. The Cowboys are not going to take a player thats a run stuffer only that high. That doesn't mean they won't take a DT.

Depends on what the coaches see in Green, I trust them on these matters. Tunsil on the team if deemed necessary makes us a better team and we are moving forward not sexy.

that is true but do you think that since they gave T Crawford a pretty hefty contract this year, they would be more willing to pass on say Robert Nkemdiche for a player of another position with a similar grade on the board? Sadly i feel they would. I'm in fill give me Joey Bosa mode at the moment but Robert Nkemdiche would be a hell of a consolation prize to add to the defensive line.

Oh of course you field offers. If teams try to low ball us in trades knowing that he is cleary a step above everyone else on the board and one of a few blue chip talents in this year draft, i would just take him. wouldn't be able to keep everyone but i can just imagine our line complete for at least 5 seasons.

Yep. At least not with your top pick where you could get an impact player that could help right now.

If they want to use a 2nd or 3rd on a QB to sit behind Romo, I could stomach that more.

I think they would still take a DT early if the right one was there. The right one is Nkemdiche. I think Marinelli is less concerned with the 1T vs 3T debate than people here. He just wants guys to get up the field and in his defense I could see him being thrilled with Crawford and Nkemdiche as his starting DTs. They do move Hardy and Mincey inside with Crawford getting plenty of time at the other DT position already so we could maybe see Crawford add another 5-10 lbs and be the starting 1T here.
