So when the contract was up is it your opinion that we should have let him walk, and move onto to whomever FA or draft pick we could get at the time?

Do you think the other teams in the league would have thought us brilliant or foolish?

Better yet...show me the case study on a team just canning/not paying/letting walk every QB they get even if decent until they find a superstar at the position. Or...show me a list of teams that have gotten away with paying a decent QB below market value over and over again and winning.

Owners dont have fans to answer to. GM's dont care about being safe and losing a million dollar+ year job.

The whole conversation is ridiculous and a waste of time. Everyone knows Dallas didnt make a big mistake signing Dak.

From over the cap, we can restructure Dak, Zeke, Tyron, Tank, Zack and Gallup and save over 60m in cap space and still have the player. We can make 15m alone by cutting Zeke and Tyron as regular cuts, or save almost 25m by making them June 1st hits. Armstrong and Hooker can be cut for good savings either way as normal cut or June cut. People just need to get over the cap woes thing. As long as they can push hits out it really isn't much concern. And if you are in a bad cap spot, you generally can get out in 2 years at most. Time to cut the dead weight and older vets and start anew.
A team could only have one June 1st cut per year...did the rules change for the pandemic?

Draft, trade, Free Agency are the options if we let Dak walk.

Why do you like losing so much? Do you not strive for better than a Wild Card loss every few years? Have you become THAT comfortable in the mediocrity?

again it doesn't work that way.

They will lower the cap hit every year either by "scheduled restructure" or extension or adding void years.
Void years costs Dak nothing so a free mechanism.
This logic always sounds great as long as you don't ever scroll to the bottom of the salary cap page and realize you are spending 6.8 million for Jaylon Smith, 6 million for Amari Cooper and 5 million for Collins and the year is 2022. Nothing is free. The bill always gets paid in the end.

I wish I could be a fan of the Dallas Cowboys in the salary cap era and never consider the impact each player is making on the cap. I just can't. To me that level of ignorance is just not possible. Ignorance truly is bliss.
