Top Glaring Need from the Draft

Wow lots of great ideas, I agree the OL just needs some decent backups (cut bait), nothing genius about that, we need to be complimenting the harvest we picked up in this last draft, RB, TE, CB, how can we capitalize on these assets so they are not stagnating in year 2, if we can move forward with the existing draft(yikes). It is highly doubtful we are going to have such a cache like this year again, as many have noted this last draft was influenced greatly by a lot of folks who are now in Miami. The reality is we have more talent than any other team, it is embarrassing when your think about it. Our starters could probably beat the pro bowl team selections. I know this idea has crossed many minds. I say maximize what we have now as the window is starting to close with Tony and injuries(it is just his style of play not age). Lets get this thing fixed internally, and then we are going to see some football that will pale the nineties. Jerry may have found that acorn after all is said and done.

Questions to be addressed: :rolleyes:I hope some of these questions have the same answer)
What makes Felix more dangerous? (This may involve coaching more than drafting ouch!)
What makes Taschard more dangerous? (Maybe look and see why Westbrook is so effective as this kid has that kind of talent ooh there is that coaching thing again.)
What makes Martellus more dangerous? (Oh my gawd make sure the peasants are locked up when this bad boy is released.)
What makes Scandrick more dangerous? (June Jones was right on the money this guy is nitro.)
What makes Jenkins more dangerous?:) (Mr Octopus have we ever had longer arms on a cowboy CB?)

You get these answered and then think about our team, school is in session.
How would you rate our draft if you just answered these five questions?

NO WAY Robinson falls, but even if he did, we have ALL 5 starting O-line positions LOCKED UP under contract for at least 2 more years, so we will not be using our top pick on an O-lineman.

We do need a couple good backups though, my guess is the 4th and 5th round you'll see us take a Center/Guard and another guy who can play all 5 positions, but we will not be using any of our 1st two picks on O-lineman, just doesn't make much sense!
I doubt Robinson falls also but if he did it would be a major mistake if we didn't take him. Herman Johnson is a guy I like also but I think he may also be gone in the 1st. There are guys like Tyronne Green out of Auburn who could be had in the 3rd or a Louis Vasquez out of Texas Tech who are decent options.

Kyle Kosier will be coming off of injury at 30 years old. We need to find his replacement now. I like Holland but he hasn't shown me enough as far as long term to pass on the position. We need some youth on this oline, why not start next year.

Our first 3 picks IMO should be as follows:
OG/DT
DT/OG
SS

A) I think we need a speedy LB that is good in coverage and a safety.
B) Then a legit OT prospect that has the potential to oneday start.
C) And a small, fast WR that can separate, runs cleans routes, and catches everything. Terry Glenn was such a great complementary WR, and probably one of the most underappreciated WRs of all time. We could've used him in his prime this year. I don't think Austin will ever be very good.
D) A backup QB (I still wish we had taken Brady Quinn and have two good options at QB)

I'd pretty much agree with all of this ↑ . A) I like Zack , but he hasn't been the impact player I thought he would be , and I've pretty much given up on Carpenter . I'd look at at Tyrone McKenzie out of South Florida .

B) I want a safety too , but I'd like a SS instead . I like K. Hamlin and A. Henry in the FS spot . I'd instead be looking at a SS to compliment R. Williams . Give me Michael Hamlin out of Clemson here .

C) I agree on some sort of OL position , though I might take a center/guard before a tackle . I live in great fear of what would happen if Gurode went down !

D) I agree on the small fast WR too . I like Hurd and Austin fine , but these depth positions are the type you need to constantly be churning . I like Deon Butler out of Penn State in the late rounds .

E) While I'm thrilled that Dallas did not take Brady Quinn , I very much agree on taking a young QB . I'm not a fan of Bollinger or Johnson , so I'm pulling more for both of them being gone next year . I'd hope for a vet like R. Grossman or JP Losman via free-agency , and a late round QB like Mike Reilly out of Central Washington as a Romo type long term project .

Just wondering if we could trade up for a GM or a head coach:eek::

1. Our LBs are perilously thin
2. Our safeties have no range and can't tackle
3. We could use a NT and DE who can hold and collapse the point of attack

ILB's with intensity. LB's need to play more downhill, and nastier.
Big NT, so Ratliff can move outside.

Another safety would be nice, but not necessarily needed, IF RW and Hamlin play up to their ability.

They have a bigger need for Motivational/Disciplinarian type leaders than they do players. The talent is there, IMO -- just not the discipline.
