Hmmm. Wasn't that Hardy guy a Pro Bowl defensive end a few years ago? maybe we should give him a try...

As much as signing Dwight Freeney makes sense on every conceivable level, I just don't think it'll happen.

didnt Stephen come out yesterday or today saying they had no interest in any veterans?

Bolden and freeney would help out this football team Alot. Boldin would give us the most physical receiving corps in the league

Would sign both Culliver and Silatolu right now to min deals with incentives and PUP them. Having these guys on the roster will give Cowboys some flexibility to trade Mo or Leary. Package either or both plus future pick/Terrence Williams in trade with Jets for Muhammad Wilkerson. Jets need TE too, so maybe Escobar would interest them, even though still rehabbing.

Would also sign either Freeney or Hardy when season starts so contracts not guaranteed.

We just signed Mo to a one year deal, nobody is trading for him and it's really not too player friendly to sign a player and trade him. Jerry is usually pretty ethical in regards to player relationships, this isn't the Philadelphia Eagles here.

Anyways, the team wants to give their young guys every chance to improve without bringing in a progress stopper. Freeney/Bolden would fit in nicely and upgrade a position on virtually every team in the league but there is a reason why they have minimal interest and they are still free a month after the draft.

Maintaining good player relationships is good policy but Cowboys have other players on final years (TWill, Leary, Wilcox, etc.) so swap one for Mo, point is still valid. Neither Hardy or Freeney will break the bank. And notice I stated that Cowboys should sign these 2 vets AFTER the season starts, should give Cowboys enough time to evaluate their youthful and inexperienced roster. As for "progress stopper" this team is one of my biggest pet peeves. Let the players EARN their playing time, enough with the baby rules. If 2 players are equal then pick the younger cheaper player, but lets not just give positions to an underdeserving player or not bring in competition with the excuse of "progress stopper".

If a player is head and shoulders better, play him no matter age. May as well give everyone Lombardi's for participation.

Most of the players on that list interest me with exception to Foster and Roberts. However, I question how much of an upgrade they would bring and where they would fit.

Boldin and Hartline are nice reliable number 2 or 3 options but the Cowboys need more speed at the receiver position to stretch the field. Not sure where they would fit and im anxious to see what Butler and some of the undrafted rookies will bring. Besides that there are many aging wrs available take your pick between Boldin, Hartline, Johnson, White, Bowe, amongst some others. Lets wait on this one.

Fitz and Jackson could be a fit, but Fitzs cost is too high and wants to be a starter. Jackson I dont know how much productivity he has left, hes barely played.

The guards have no place unless leary is traded and they want to sign as backups.

Whitner and or Hall would be replacing Church or Wilcox. Whitner is probably slower than both of them and is more of a s/lb hybrid at this point. Leon Hall is pricing himslef out of the market and is more of a fs that will be filled by Jones.

Hardy and Freeney are by far the most intriguing options. The door is closed on Hardy, Freeney has some value and fills a need through the first 4 weeks. However, I think the Cowboys like the you g talent they have on the line and will wait to camp to see what they got. Freeney will probably be signed by then.

Hate when people say progress stoppers when you're trying to win the sb.

When you are trying to win a superbowl in a short timeframe (1-2 years), you should try to do what the Broncos did. They used free agency in combination with the draft. I wonder if their fans where annoyed when Elway brought in all those high powered free agents on defense. Was Ware considered a progress stopper ?

That sounds old school but you're looking at one year deals and the young guys who make the team will be here much longer. So progress stopper is a real issue not to be dismissed lightly. I get the point about being better now. Do you rent a player for a year or take the chance you can develop someone who will help you long term?

It's a balance and as such will need a bit of both to compete at your best. Not a fan of sticking to policy, results be damned.

I'm all for the youth movement but I hope these young players are not just young but TALENTED youth is great but talent is better

WR Brian Hartline can move the chains, best addition for this team after Fitzpatrick and then Freeney because he's the clutch 3rd-4th WR Dallas desperately needs for converting on 3rd and short, and the Cap money is there, he can play inside slot and outside WR.

We are missing a guy like this to make the Offense click, takes pressure off Dez, the running game and the QB.

Culliver, hall, freeney, hardy, and Whitner need to be signed. All will be relatively inexpensive. I really don't understand what the problem is. Here's who you cut to make room for them : CB Brandon McGee, CB Josh Thomas, DE Mike Mcadoo, DT McClain, FS Wilcox and if you really wanna get tricky you could get rid of Church too - but I'd keep him for competition. Deji olatoye and Ryan Russell can also be cut to make room if necessary.

You sign those guys and or defense goes up a couple of notches.

Ummm..if they would upgrade a position on just about any team in the league, then what's the reason they are still available? Contradicting yourself makes no sense there..
