I'm just guessing that Roger is number one?

For me, even though I was never part of his era, Tom Landry is the most important Cowboy ever. I think that he represented the team better than anyone ever.

I personally would put both Emmitt & Troy over Michael.

Bob Lilly. Randy White too.

Agree completely. Irvin at #3 is ridiculous.

It probably is but I'd have a hard time arguing it. They all gave so much to the franchise its hard to put one above the other. Its like trying to rank your kids.

Emmit Smith should be #1 3 rings and he's the all-time leading rusher in NFL history that's an unbelievable accomplishment and that record may never be broken with the way the NFL has changed into a passing first league.

1)Smith
2)Staubach
3)Aikman
4)Lilly
5)White
6)Irvin
7)Larry Allen
8)Jason Witten
9) Tony Dorsett
10)Don Merrideth as of right now but Tony Romo could be right there (depends on what happens the next few years)

P.S I only used players no coaches so That's why you don't see Landry's name here

probably not it is from 2009

He should not make the cut even if this were done this instant.

The rich team history we have makes it incredible how man greats there have been. The players who have been Cowboys over the years are outstanding. Most teams would die to have our 10-20 on their top ten lists.

Larry Allen, Rayfield Wright, Ed Jones, Harvey Martin, Cliff Harris, Daryl Johnston, Cornell Green, Lee Roy Jordan, Bob Hayes, Everson Walls --all would deserve to go ahead of Tony Romo.

He has not even surpassed Danny White as the fourth best QB in team history, let alone threaten the top ten.

I feel bad for the newest generation of fans.

They really just do not know how great this franchise used to be and why many long time fans find mediocrity to be so unacceptable.

Not sure I agree on White, but I do agree overall. There are a lot of players ahead of Romo right now.

As for White, he finished with a career QB rating of 81.7 and almost had as many interceptions as TDs (155-132). I don't think he was as bad a QB as many do (mainly based on the San Fran loss), but Romo's a better quarterback who's been unlucky enough to be on worse teams overall.

Randy White was too low also. Probably a top 10 all time DT and dominant player. Top three should have 1) Landry 2) Roger 3) Lilly

Harvey Martin is one of the Cowboys who never get the credit he deserves. Guy was a straight up beast in his prime, and since they didn't record sacks in his era, he is always forgotten about.

I know it might be blasphemy, but Coach Landry was not really a player and might not belong on this list. If you adjust this list up to only include players, I would have Larry Allen moved up. It is insane a soon-to-be Hall of Famer is not in a top ten.

And by the way, Drew Pearson belongs in the Ring Of Honor but isn't due to a petty vendetta by Jerry Jones.

Martin was a great pass rusher. Some say that it was due to his three linemates helping, but I do not see it that way. He would have been great regardless. Excellent first step and very quick.

If there was one thing that made Doomsday, it was a defensive line. For two decades. Not an average player in our starting four that entire time.

Agreed - Harvey Martin's first step was as quick as anyone I have ever seen, except Dwight Freeney, who in his prime was SCARY quick. As for Irvin at #3...I love the guy, but when you have the NFL's all time rushing leader, you HAVE to put him ahead of Irvin. Either way, it's a good discussion to have.

Drew Pearson went into the ROH in 2011.
