Torry Holt May Be Released

We have a pretty tough playbook but Torry Holt is one of the best in the league is a great Professional.

I imagine we could get him on the field by his 2nd week. As far as having him comfortable with the playbook it may take 4 or 5 weeks.

Its a possibility he could screw up the chemistry short term but long term he would put us over the top.

He is one of the best route runners in the game with Great hands.

Didnt Jason Garretts brother coach there? I think Judd? He should have some kind of insight on whether or not he can pick up the play book

i offer a 3rd and 6th for Holt right now at nearing 2 AM in the morning... take it or leave it!

I really don't think we need a WR at all. I like how Austin is coming along and wouldn't want to have a progress stopper in front of him.

That said, Torry Holt is a very good player and I wouldn't mind signing him for the remainder of the season. But I'd still make it a point to get Austin and Hurd involved in the offense.

Jackson, Bulger, and Holt all want out of St Louis if Scott Linehan remains the coach. Bulger has already came out and said it, Jackson has already voiced displeasure on a radio station with Bulger's benching, and Holt apologized to Bulger for not making enough plays. I don't know about everyone else but I think it is sad when these 3 players are as tight together as they are and everything is going the way it is with Linehan in St Louis. Bulger is a very accurate quarterback when healthy and he actually has time to throw and regardless of some people saying Jackson is overated the fact is he put up over 2,000 yards rushing and receiving jus a few years back and you don't do that unless you have some talent. Jackson spoke out about Linehan benching Bulger and so did Holt and now Linehan is going to address them both according to ESPN, it's just a sad situation and this is coming from a diehard life long cowboys fan. If St. Louis wants to become a winning franchise again, they need to fire Linehan.

Why on earth would they release Holt, that doesnt make any sense? Im not buying it.

I'm buying it. Where there's smoke, there's fire, so I believe the rumor. Did anyone believe that we would dump Herschel Walker back in the day?

That doesnt sound right, not even the Rams are that ****** dumb.

Even with his age I would think the Rams could get at least a 4th, maybe a 3rd, I would give them our 3rd right now for Holt.

Crayton has 8 catches on the year as our #2. I would not exactly be thrilled with that, but maybe that is just me.

Crayton cannot hold Torry Holt's jock strap, that is a fact.

Anybody that says otherwise is just being a homer. My only concern if we actually could land Holt (which I dont think will happen btw), would be chemistry with Tony.

This is not Madden where you trade for a probowl WR and he starts next game for you and puts up 150 yds and 3 TDs. It takes time to get chemistry and to get timing down. Just look at Farve with the Jets, he throws an out route and the wr runs a hook and the result is an int.

Maybe by playoff time Holt and Romo could be in synch, however I dont think this will happen so it is all a moot point anyway.

Crayton doesn't impress me... Miles & Hurd are still developing and the verdict is still out... Holt even with his age can offer more than all of them. The chemistry with Tony is the only issue, but that's something that can be worked on. If you have a chance to upgrade, I'd say go for it. We all saw how the O stalled when TO went down last yr. I would hate for that to happen this yr.

Nope.

Why mess up the chemistry of the team? And I didn't know our passing game was so awful that we needed this geezer.

Not too mention we would have to release one of our younger receivers.

I won't even get into Holt's large salary.

I think he'd go to Carolina...
So do I. He's from there, has already said he wants to play there to end his career, and his brother plays there.

They will find a buyer before the deadline.

Big difference between the Cowboys trading Walker for a boat load of draft picks and the Rams cutting Holt.

why release him when they could trade him and get decent value???
who is gonna trade for him "if" everyone knows hes gonna be released?

His brother was part of the last cut in pre-season and is not on the active roster.

my couple points on this
1: nobody besides T.O. is in his league on the roster
2: he could be a great mentor to Hurd and Austin
3: he still has that fire to win
4: him and T.O. would be great together w/ Crayton in the slot where he is best

5: doesn't he fit into WRs that have played w/ Tony ( pro bowl if i am right):D

that is what i think. as far as him being released i don't see it, but if something could get done... do it:D

My points:

1. He's old.
2. He's expensive.
3. He would take receptions away from TO, Witten & Crayton-- Great way to make the troops happy there!
4. The offense looks to be working at least "OK" to me.
5. A young receiver would have to be released.
6. Holt does not know the playbook.
7. The salary cap next year is going to be tight due to the ending of the collective bargaining agreement. Why piss away $5 mil on an aging receiver who can come up lame at any moment?

Some folks spend way too much time playing "Madden" and don't look at the real-world consequences of filling your roster with expensive aging vets that not only clog the salary cap but cause the release of younger players.

This team took a big dump in the late 90's and the Campo years because of two reason, piss-poor drafting and the over reliance of aging star players who were no longer as good as they once were but who commanded paychecks far greater than younger replacements.

Acquiring a Terry Holt is not how you build a dynasty.
