This is NOT correct.

1. On a play from scrimmage, if an offensive player fumbles anywhere on the field during fourth down, only the fumbling player is permitted to recover and/or advance the ball. If any player fumbles after the two-minute warning in a half, only the fumbling player is permitted to recover and/or advance the ball. If recovered by any other offensive player, the ball is dead at the spot of the fumble unless it is recovered behind the spot of the fumble. In that case, the ball is dead at the spot of recovery. Any defensive player may recover and/or advance any fumble at any time.

You can't fumble the ball forward out of bounds. That was my point.

I like the rule, it typically isn't subjective to the ref's opinion and the severity makes it interesting.

If they want to change something, change the spot-foul for pass interference. On almost any given pass play the ref can call interference because, by rule as written, that is exactly what's happening. When they decide to call it is totally subjective and that penalty can be upwards of 60yards. That is way too much game changing power.

Wrong. You are punishing the offense for carelessly neglecting the most important item on the field - the football.

I don't know when the reach for the pylon silliness began (I remember when there weren't pylons) but it's one of the dumbest things I've seen introduced to football in my lifetime.

Well if that's the case we should punish them anywhere on the field.

It’s a good rule, and it’s not going to change. Don’t fumble before crossing the goal line....period. Give the defense credit for defending the goal line.
