Trade Bait

Unless they somehow see Collins suspension as the sign of a lost cause, which I doubt very much, they have to keep him. Just too good a player, and we've seen in the past how lack of depth on the O-line can cause big problems. Steele has done a very good job filling in, but he is not as talented as Collins.

As for Gallup, he's in the last year of his contract, and Wilson can play, but again, depth is important to maintain. Like someone else said, if someone offered something big to trade I would consider it, but otherwise I believe we should keep Gallup.

Bottom line is we don't want to do anything that could sabotage what could shape up to be a very good season, and depth is almost always a factor in successful teams.
Plus, Collins may be our new OLT if Tyron starts having injury issues again.

If you can get value sure, but I think fans will overestimate what we can get. Collins missed all of last year with injury and started this year with a suspension. Oh yeah, he also comes with a major cap hit. Gallup is in his walk year, you may get more value out of the comp pick he provides.
This. One of the most common things I read in trade talks is the fan overestimation of our talent. Or forgetting that trading a player with a big contract is doubly difficult. I’m all for a trade that makes us better. But those kind of trades are rare in today’s NFL.

It took you a while but you are finally seeing the light. Better late than never.
of course, you are the absolute best in OL talent evaluation....can you please make another 100 guesses and get another one right , to keep up with your 1% success rate :muttley:

did Will call you?

of course, that goes without saying. expecting a 1st, for a player who hasn't played in 1.5 years. had hip surgery last year. suspended and is another violation away from a one year suspension and a 10M salary cap hit...yeah, teams are just lining up for this one

Teams are lining up to get a starting OT with 6 years experience. $10M is chump change for a starting OT these days. Also, the $10M is all base salary which can be restructured if a team wanted to lower it. And if he were to get suspended, he does not get his pay. And a team would do a physical before the trade.

Why don’t you call 1-800-starting OT and see what is available right now. Some teams are desperate for OL help.

If Collins is as good as you say he is and even better than Steele, teams will be lining up.

Except Roy Williams!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh good lord, thanks for reminding me of that.

Two things. They considered Williams a #1 receiver, something nobody thinks about Gallup.* And that and the Galloway trade are widely derided as the worst trades in Cowboys history.

As I said in another post, maybe you can find a really dumb team to trade with, but O'Brien isn't running Houston anymore, so it seems pretty unlikely.

*I'm not saying Williams was better than Gallup, I'm saying he had a #1 rep and Gallup doesn't.

I'm not sure if it's overestimating talent or underestimating the value teams place on draft picks. I don't think anyone is suggesting that Gallup should be valued as a #1 receiver. But somehow they think a #2 receiver is going to attract a 1st-round pick.

Problem is you can't keep it all. I am big fan of Gallup but at the right price yes would trade him. Hershel Walker used to be a favorite of mine as well
Walker was on a horrible team. So with Walker or without him, the team was going nowhere. Johnson knew it was gonan take 2-3 years so get rid of Herschel and get as much back in return.

We are in a win NOW mode, so getting rid of Gallup is foolish IMO. Now, if a team were going to offer a GREAT deal, youd consider trading any player minus Dak on your roster. And I do mean ANY player.

So what happens after Collins and Gallup come back? As good as Terrance Steel and Cedrick Wilson are playing right now the Cowboys might want to consider moving on from L'el Collins and Michael Gallup. You could get some really good players for these guys or even better a couple of really high draft picks. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the Cowboys pull off a move for one or even both of these guys.
Tackle is arguably the 2nd hardest position to find talent in.

Tyron, Collins, and Steele is not only a great trio but NONE of them are even top 20 at there position for cap hit.

Gallup if he leaves nets a 3rd round comp pick, I don't think your getting much higher than that in a trade so no point. I don't see any logical reason why you wouldn't resign him, his first year cap hit (2022) will be low and his 2023 and 2024 salary could be acquired by simply moving on from Amari Cooper.

Tried to explain will give it one more try, I don't want to trade Gallup would rather keep him however if a team were to offer up a #1 pick for him then yes I would take it. Best we would get in compensation is a 3rd so if I have to lose a player then I would rather do it for a 1. Anything less I would keep Gallup and hope a deal with him can happen next season but unlikely to be the case.

ok, why don't you get on the horn with a few teams and find a trade partner for Collins....I mean you are the self proclaimed OL guru....seems you are well connected to team front offices, claiming teams are lining up to get starting OT with 6 years experience. I assume that's insider information.....

Tired of Collins.
HE'S NOT THAT GOOD!

Insider information? Ha ha. It is called common sense.

When did Farniok struggle? Show us some film. All preseason games are on YouTube.

If Farniok is better than Biadasz (or even Williams or McGovern) then he'd be playing.

Have faith in MM, Kellen and Philbin to recognize the best player for the position.

It would make no sense NOT to play an obviously better player.

Nsekhe is only needed to hold the fort down in the immediate future. He will be gone next year or maybe even sooner.

Farniok played well in preseason games and has been getting reps on special teams. He is showing potential this year like Steele showed potential last year.

Knight seems to have maxed out. Looks to be a 3rd stringer - good in a pinch for maybe a few games. Will probably get beat out by others next year.

Ball is a big question mark right now since none of us saw him play. The team has been good at identifying OL talent so I will trust in the scouts and coaches.

I'd rather have La'el.

The season is not even third of the way through.

Cowboys have set their sights on the Lombardi THIS season.

Draft is not a priority.

Especially a low first rounder at best.
