Trade Bait

I think drafting Lamb was the writing on the wall for Cooper, not Gallup. Cooper’s big contract and his pestering injuries are two very reasons to cut Cooper and resign Gallup. Gallup, Lamb and Wilson would be a better than average group of WRs. Cooper has played very well at times and very inconsistent at other times.

I think Cooper contract will be one for restructuring as opposed eating cap dollars. Just my view but I think Cooper stays and they will get free up cash on his deal.

Everyone always wants to raid the cabinets until the cabinets grow bare. As in injuries. If I'm GM next season I'm gonna still try to keep Gallop and others. Per you are here until Jerry finds someone better. Never trade away you are here until you find better. I think you can find better in next years draft then make a trade. Versus trading away assets we may need later in the season. But that being said.....They offer me Aaron Donald for something we could stand to lose???:yourock:

Collins is a better RT than Steele. That’s why you don’t trade him.

I'm not saying I would give that up what I am saying it that would be my lowest price tag. It is worth more to me to keep Gallup than to trade him but if someone where willing to give up a #1 then yes I would do it. Hearing people hollering they would never trade? I think is foolish at the right price I there are few I would not trade, that price may be unrealistic but that is what the player is worth to me.
I agree, we should trade him. I just don't think there is a market for him above a 5th round pick. Being injured is decreasing his value before the trade deadline.

To believe that teams look at the final year of a deal and not look at 3 years of play will alter anything in my view is completely wrong. This injury is nothing that is long term or would be a problem down the road. as for a 5th lol Dallas likely gets a 3rd by just letting him walk in FA.

Unless they somehow see Collins suspension as the sign of a lost cause, which I doubt very much, they have to keep him. Just too good a player, and we've seen in the past how lack of depth on the O-line can cause big problems. Steele has done a very good job filling in, but he is not as talented as Collins.

As for Gallup, he's in the last year of his contract, and Wilson can play, but again, depth is important to maintain. Like someone else said, if someone offered something big to trade I would consider it, but otherwise I believe we should keep Gallup.

Bottom line is we don't want to do anything that could sabotage what could shape up to be a very good season, and depth is almost always a factor in successful teams.

Perfectly said. 100% agree.

To me it is the only way, I get what I want or I keep Gallup. His value to me may be greater than what another team may be willing to offer but if they are willing I would listen.
Exactly
His value to us is really high if cooper or lamb went down
Wilson I really like but he’s not Gallup and I think that’s why we will be able to sign him for less than Gallup will get
I’m hoping if we lose Gallup he gets a monster deal along with LVE, CW

That is an option but Cooper has a much bigger effect than just the catches. He demands attention
It’s certainly an option they could look at though
Not sure I’d go that route but they could

We would be crazy to trade them away unless we can get something good in return. Gallup I would want a top 10 2nd round pick, otherwise he may get a contract next year that will get us a 3rd round comp and considering were making a run we could use him this year. For Collins, he can play LG and still man the RT spot and OL are huge bonuses for us right now so I would not want to get rid of him one bit.

who? who is available....hypotheticals and position mentions with no names don't matter.

I think you shouldn't have bothered to respond, if you found it unworthy of your time! If I need a critic, I'll ask for one.

Imo if you serious about making a run, you keep both.
This. Very much this.

It's pretty rare for teams to accomplish anything serious in football without having to utilize some crucial depth along the path. The fact that we are overcoming some challenges to our depth in September and October doesn't mean that we won't suffer more injuries or more covid outbreaks or more suspensions in November or December or January. Don't kid yourself that the worst is behind us and we won't have to dig even further into our depth charts as we're making a playoff push.

If you could wave a magic wand and somehow guarantee me that we won't suffer a single injury or covid case or suspension from here until the offseason, sure. But that's not how this works.

didn't mean to ruffle your feathers....nothing to get upset about.....its a football forum, a cowboys football forum. it wasn't a criticism, but a valid question.

If I had anyone in particular in mind, I would have named one. Any good CB who's available would suit me fine.

Sounds like you know nothing about OL talent.
I think you are looking in the mirror if you think these guys are anywhere close to collins Nsekhe, Knight, Farniok, and Ball. or Williams for that matter..

sorry dude, you are playing Madden NFL.....real NFL is nothing like that

So what happens after Collins and Gallup come back? As good as Terrance Steel and Cedrick Wilson are playing right now the Cowboys might want to consider moving on from L'el Collins and Michael Gallup. You could get some really good players for these guys or even better a couple of really high draft picks. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the Cowboys pull off a move for one or even both of these guys.

Not the brightest idea I have heard lately.

For my reasoning go see my response earlier to Reality in this thread. This is about something more than depth.
nothing you said made sense.

you assumed Steele is better than Collins, where all other facts point the other way.
you said Collins shenanigans last year...when he was injured.
if you think his shennanigans this year for being wrongfully suspended for that matter, then shall we throw Gregory in the same boat? given his shennanigans have been far worse.
you named these four Nsekhe, Knight, Farniok, and Ball. as good replacements in case of injury to collins, steele, smith or anybody else on the OL....sorry, with those in the game, Dak and zeke get killed. none and I mean NONE of those have done anything in the NFL to distinguish themselves in any way even as an average starter in this league.....

seems like you just don't like collins, play madden football and infatuated with draft picks....

if in your mind, a poster on a message board, thinks steele is better than collins, and we know steele ain't all that, then who would pay a 1st for collins.....that's madden football....or even fantasy football...

sorry, you lost your argument 7 pages ago....good luck in your fantasy league

I used Pitt as an example Smith is gone for the season and Pitt hurting for a WR, lets say they ask about Gallup, if they are willing to pay a #1 pick I do it, if not I keep Gallup either way I win.
that's way way way too hypotethical....gallups for 8 or 9 games...you better have a championship ready team to get a rental for 8 or 9 games and make a run for it....else they have to be utterly stupid to make that trade...this is not close to being realistic scenario....but its a nice hypothetical....

Who was the one who said last year Steele was going to be good? That would be me and not you. So sorry. You lose, again.
