A trade for Allen would only be renting him for the rest of the season. His base salary won't be much next year, but he will get a huge roster bonus.

Jared Allen has struggled in his first season with the Chicago Bears. Through the first seven games of the Bears’ 2014 season, Allen has a total of 24 tackles to go along with 1.5 sacks. Those are not the numbers the Bears were expecting when the team signed Allen this off-season, and on Sunday, Bears’ head coach Marc Trestman may have sent a message to Allen.


Kevin Fishbain posted the Bears’ defensive snap count on twitter on Monday morning, and the list reveals that Allen played in only 45 of the 70 total defensive plays for the Bears on Sunday.

Seriously, Allen could have a resurgence with this team. But even a guy who hasn't produced but has upside, a former blue chipper like Ro McClain, who has busted with current team for whatever reason. Marinelli can really coach em up.

Maybe talk to the Jets about Quinton Coples. That staff is as good as gone. He's currently playing out of position at OLB and it's not working out. Was 6-6/290 but dropped down to 265. Didn't fit their plans for him as a 5-tech but got to the passer a little his previous two years. Still has 2 yrs on contract at $1.2m and $1.5m. Maybe a 2nd and Kyle Wilber.

If not him, maybe Calvin Pace as a situational rusher. Has 3.5 sacks this year, 10 last year. Signed 2yr contract for $5m in March. Likely costs us a 3rd day pick.

I was hoping for a Aldon Smith trade but I don't think that would happen. We need a better pass rush. The Cowboys are putting their faith in the hands of a rookie, who hasn't played a game in the NFL yet! We need pass rushing help now and I mean right now!!!!!

Quinton Coples - NY Jets - Just got benched and is no longer a starting OLB. Naturally a 4-3 DE
Da'Quan Bowers - Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Natural 4-3 DE, rumors he may get cut prior to the start of the season.
