Perhaps things could fall this way....

Dallas is up at #19 and either Lamar Jackson or Mason Randolph is there. A team trades up to take a QB, and Dallas gets a 2nd rounder out of it. New England, or perhaps a team that got left out early on the QB buffett, are good candidates.

Now Dallas has two 2nd-round picks.

Dallas then trades a 2nd for Earl Thomas, but retains a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and two 4ths in this draft.

Winner.

I endorse this 100 percent

Who needs a QB that picks behind us in the first? Buffalo? Maybe the Saints?

No way Dallas trades a second for Thomas. They value their picks way too much to do that.

Myself, would not do trade with New England. no way am I helping them getting possibly another franchise qb.

Rumor is the Saints are wanting to move up. I'm sure it's for a QB.

I'd rather draft a player with that second. 2nd is too high for someone who will be free next year.
This..100 percent..We get backed up on the cap again, to rent a player for a year..Further is Thomas starting to exhibit wear now? IS he still an elite safety?

I've been advocating this for a while only with a 3rd. If it would take an adding a 5th or 6th, whatever just do it.

3 picks plus Thomas is a homerun for Thursday and Friday. Really improves the 53.

OR use the picks and complete the defensive rebuild and draft a Very Good Fs..Lol

Yes, we can get 3 players for the long run. Unless they know ET can go for 4 or 5 years. Rather send Seattle a 3rd or 4th for ET. Anything higher is not worth it.

Lets see Thomas made a name for him self playing on the Legion of Doom with a lot of talent and in less than 2 weeks will be 29 so you say he'll being playing at a high rate and be the same Thomas when he's 33 or 34 and not have the talent that he made his name with while in Seattle? He would not be the 1st player thought to be really good but on another team with less talent didn't produce as well as he did while surrounded by more talent and to give up draft picks on a player in his contract year that just might be a rented player after giving up those picks - No thanks. I'd rather draft a safety and get him cheap for 4 years and not cost multiple draft picks.

Perhaps. But still don’t like trading a high pick for a player on the backend of his career (still immediate impact player) and we will pay 10 million to.
