Trade down for Earl Thomas?

Trading for Thomas means you are trying to win RIGHT NOW. You are salvaging your future and cap space for a shot at winning a SB this or next year.

I don't think this team is in that position. It needs to keep putting together quality draft picks to stay relevant for years on down the road. The OL is not cheap anymore, that window is gone. 2nd round this draft is absolutely loaded with potential studs.

I'm 100% against Earl Thomas just because Garrett is still the coach and this team is not winning a SB with him.

The lone bright side of an Earl Thomas signing is him teaching the young DBs.

How about staying put and signing Earl Thomas as a FA next season rather than wasting a 2nd rounder this year? Sounds like a much better plan. Don't need to go all in on a superbowl this year.

YES, i mentioned this earlier..These guys are either Seattle fans, or too stubborn to realize its not worth the investment..

Earl hasnt played a full season in three years..He is inconsistent year to year now..He was a beast first four to five years but i think its taking its toll...Its simply not worth the investment..

And some play until 30 or 31. Again there have been so many players that were thought to be so good and when they left those teams where they made their name they weren't nearly as good because they didn't have the surrounding talent they had when they made their name. I still think it's to risky to count on a player in his contract year on a team where he built his name surrounded by a lot more talent, who is turning 29 and has injuries the past 2 seasons that might end up as only a rented player and after all of that have to give up draft picks for him. The Cowboys are not a safety away from going to the Super Bowl and the risks to me just outweigh the POSSIBLE rewards.
.

A 2nd or 3rd round picks comes with a lot more risk of failure than Earl Thomas. 10 times as much.

Ill take my chances, coz a draft pick will most likely play all 16 games..besidez i have Richards.

Overheard in Seattle...

"What are we going to do with Thomas? He's got one year left on his contract, 8 seasons under his belt, and wants paid top dollar."

"Some guy in Dallas is willing to give us a 2nd."

"Does he know what we know?"

"Yep."
"And he still thinks that's a good deal for them?
" :muttley:

is that a thing?

can you link, never heard that.
I think you can only be tagged if you're on your rookie contract if I'm not mistaken without having right of refusal. I think you can be tagged twice under team control, then the third time a player can refuse it (but never would because it's a HUGE one-year deal).

I'm almost positive that's not the case. Hell remember when we signed Hardy, he had them include a clause that said they couldn't franchise him. Also Brees has a clause that says he can't be franchised, so I just think that may not be true.

No idea what you're talking about. There are no restrictions on who can or can't be tagged. Players can negotiate clauses into their contracts but there are no such NFL rules.

IF you can sign him to a long term deal HE is worth ever bit of the second round pick! The dude is a stud and a need.
