Trade for Joey Porter Jr. doesn't solve Cowboys' defensive woes (ESPN GET UP)

That idiot hater TB player Mccoy. We had a need at corner. No one ever said it would solve all our issues. If SF or any other team did the move, they would say it was smart.

Even before Porter, the defense was not one player away from becoming even a average defense. It lacked edge rushers, CBs and a FS since Downs is not there permanently yet. With Porter, they still need a great edge rusher and another LB. They could move Downs over to FS, Bland at inside cover.

So all this stilll a work in progress. But the immediate need is edge for more pressure. CP needs to do his job and find a way to create schemes for getting pressure on the QBs... It hasn't helped that the NFL seems to be headed to mobile QBs, as per the first three and now the fourth team Dallas has faced. Dallas will need to pressure but also contain. Oy vey......:banghead: Like i said, work in progress.

It doesn't make them worse either. What a stupid headline. It makes the corner back room better that is a change.

While I hate getting corners it’s needed here. Revel is not looking that great so far. He’s played just okay at times and awful at other times.

Durant is now in the tub and waiting for the other shoe to drop on Bland. They pick on him a lot.

We need a pass rusher so bad but I just don’t see it out there and kill your very thin capital.

no team has a defense full of good players. good defenses scheme their way to fit the players they have. CP has players playing out of position trying to make his scheme work and isn't adjusting. thats why the same mistakes keep happening.

Well considering the amount of injuries in the secondary, it sure they heck doesn't hurt them.
He's a young player who can be part of the future...not just this season. Plus, there is about a 99.9% chance he's a much better player than what you'd be drafting in the 2nd round two years from now.

There is no singular fix but it gives us a solid corner for what would normally be a jerry jones throwaway pick

Agree.

However, folks that think this is a year they are a true contender want to address edge first.

In 2027 this move will make more sense

They are right.

Does he help? Sure, he's a better CB than what we have. Even if you think Bland is better, Porter is step up from the rest of the slop we have.

But he doesn't solve our issues which may be tied to coaching on top of just talent issues at important spots like edge rusher, etc.

As soon as the babbling bozo started talking about needing to stop the run I turn teh video off. If I want stupid analysis like this I will go to some 3rd grade class and ask for it.

Porter's acquisition has nothing to do with stopping the run, although it may help if they can cheat a safety up into the box while Porter handles a WR one on one. But I am sure teh Cowboys felt their CB were sub-par, and they had injuries and it was a necessity to find someone to help there. It just so happens Porter was available. This was a good deal for Dallas if they can sign Porter long term. The negative Nancys know it.

I think the run defense will improve not because of Porter but because the Cowboys will make some adjustments and get healthier. They need better play from Gary and Winters, or they need to get them off the field.

There are rushers in house

There were not currently any corners in house
