Trade for Mankins

Patriot's OG Logan Mankins has made it very clear that he wants to be traded out of New England. Since Jerry doesn't like to draft offensive linemen, especially in the first 2 rounds, maybe he will be more inclined to trade for one. A 2007 Pro-Bowler, Mankins has started 80 out of a possible 80 games since being drafted in the first round in 2005 draft.

Bringing Mankins in would strengthen the offensive line & bring in much needed youth. At 28, he is 3-4 years younger than everyone on the starting line except for Doug Free. Obviously, since he would start, our depth would get that much deeper. I would love to bring in a young, talented LT, but doubt if that's going to happen until after the season.

Since the Pats are short on WR help, and the Cowboys have a plethora of gifted receivers, it seems like a match made in heaven. Any takers?

It depends on what they want for him. Nothing more than a 4th.

I would do it in a heartbeat.

And have 3 interior players in the top 5-top 10 paid linemen in the NFL? This aint madden. You can't have probowlers at every position.

Dude just turned down a 5 year deal at 7 mil per year.

I would give up more than a 4th.
Wish they would take Roy Williams, but they won't.
Ogletree and a 4th? Not enough.
Crayton and a 3rd? Maybe.

Crayton and Coakley ought to seal the deal.

Coakley? Are we going to get one of their players from 5 years ago in return?

Oh that would be awesome. Roy Williams and Kosier.

i really like Mankins. But he's not getting traded here.

This here...:signmast:

Not sure why people want us to trade Kosier. Part of the appeal is the added depth and not just the upgrade. If we traded Kosier we are in the same boat on depth as we were before. Plus Kosier is our most verstile lineman and can play anywhere.

Sure you can. You just can't have players paid like probowlers at every position.

I'm in favor of adding quality offensive lineman. What would it take in a trade and what would we have to pay him are key.

I've never seen a Probowler who accepted not being paid like a probowler

Them taking him is not the issue. Jerry isn't going to trade or cut him after paying him a 9mil bonus.

It would great to get Mankins but it's not going to happen.

Last year I would have agreed, or even this year if we hadn't drafted Dez. I think Jerry would trade Roy now and claim his maneuvering to draft Dez made it all possible. He won't cut Roy though because he would still have to pay him and get nothing in return.

He has to pay him if he's cut or traded. He's not going anywhere.

Jerry can be so brilliant yet so stupid.

He traded for a loser (and got taken to the woodshed and almost beaten to death) and we're stuck paying a premium for him. Just stupid.

That's not necessarily true. It depends on the trade. Theoretically he might would have to pay some of his salary or none of his salary if he traded him. I already said I didn't think that would happen though, but that's not because Jerry wouldn't do it, it's because a nother team wouldn't do it.

The 9 mil was a bonus not salary. It's already been paid. It doesn't come off the books if he's traded or cut only his salary comes off the books.
